The CK Daily – Prayers for Ukraine

I woke up this morning to write this email and had several things on my mind to write about but I just couldn’t pull away from the atrocity that is taking place right now in Ukraine. With the Russian tanks and troops crossing the border inspiring a full-scale attack on the country with cities destroyed and people killed, I believe we have entered a whole new geopolitical landscape that we have not seen the likes of in a long time. This just “feels” different than what we have seen by countries in the more recent past. It is kinda surreal.

We will have to watch to see how this plays out and what kind of ripple effects this has throughout the world and the world’s economy, but in the meantime, we need to keep the people of Ukraine in our thoughts and prayers.

I hope you have a great Thursday.

Jason

The CK Daily – Take a Hike

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is doing well this week! I’m feeling mentally refreshed after a great weekend! A few weeks ago I mentioned how I’m pretty much over winter and ready for spring. We’ve had some nice days scattered in between cool or rainy days lately which has been wonderful, but has also made me even more eager for spring to arrive! This weekend we caught some fairly nice days and I was able to take advantage by going on a hike with some friends. We hiked up to a beautiful overlook called Pinnacle Knob which is located in Clayton, GA. The total hike was just under 10 miles and we gained over 2,000 feet of elevation! It was a bit of a challenge but so worth it! We passed two beautiful waterfalls along the way which made the hike even more amazing! I highly recommend it if you’re local and enjoy hiking!

Learning Center Article – Right Switch for your Crypto Mining Network

Crypto mining is a popular way to try to make money. In its simplest form, miners use simple setups that make a few extra bucks here and there. In extreme cases, miners dedicate entire warehouses of hardware to mining, and when they are efficient enough, they can make big money. Regardless of where you fall on this spectrum, mining can only work when your devices reliably connect to the internet. So, you need the appropriate networking hardware to get the most out of your efforts. In that light, we can look at some of the traits that will prove the most valuable for a crypto mining network switch.

The CK Daily – Presidents, Allergies & Simplification

Happy Presidents’ Day! I’m not sure who celebrates this holiday aside from Mattress/Furniture stores, and maybe a few car lots, but if you do celebrate, let me know if you have any traditions you follow around this holiday!

I guess allergy season has arrived in Georgia… my entire family has had a runny noses and coughs, definitely not fun! Over the weekend we mostly did some Spring cleaning (at least an early start to the Spring cleaning), and I realized that I carry too much unnecessary stuff. I’m not a minimalist by any means, but when I was looking at things objectively I kept asking myself, “do I really need all this stuff?” in a number of categories. For example, do I really need 25 t-shirts? I probably maybe wear 2 t-shirts on any given weekend, so it didn’t make sense to me why I had so many (stuff just accumulates)… I decided to donate a bunch that I hadn’t worn in a while. After going through some of the clutter, we felt a lot better, my wife and I felt renewed, and we both thought it would be a good idea to go through our stuff every couple of months to see where we could declutter.

Speaking of clothing, during the week I wear the same CK Polo every workday (I have 7 of them) and I catch some grief every once and a while, but I do it not because I’m emulating some successful person or guru, but because I’m lazy. Yes, very lazy! I don’t like making a lot of decisions in the morning and picking out what to wear for my work at home day is one less decision I have to make. One less thing I have to think about that may occupy my brain.

I guess this weekend has taught me the importance of simplification. I think it’s good every once and while to review the stuff you collect and reduce things down to fundamentals, clear out the clutter, and removing any distractions. What are some things in your life that you can simplify? Also is it too early for Spring cleaning? I think I’m just ready for Spring!

Have a great Monday!

Cris

In This Issue: Customer Service – Make or Break | AC Power Cord | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Customer Service – Make or Break

If you are anything like me, I do most of my stuff online so I really don’t have to deal with people much in managing the services around my house or when ordering stuff. Really, the only time is when I go to a store in person or when there is an issue. Not everything will always go perfectly and I also get that right now many businesses are stressed and stretched thin. Grace should be extended to businesses during this time, but the way a company handles a situation (if there is an issue) can still make or break the deal.

The past few weeks I have had issues with my landscaping service. This is not the first time I’ve had issues over the past year. I have had more than my fair share of them with the company. This was a make-or-break moment for them and they failed. I reached out to them several times about the service and never got a response and no one ever showed up, so this week I fired them. Even when I canceled my service, I had to call them to confirm that they had actually canceled it because my account online still showed active, had a date for the next service (which they hadn’t shown up for the last two), and showed the next billing date, which was coming up soon. I got their voicemail when I called. Their only response was a text message to me a day later saying, “Canceled”. They never reached out to try and resolve the issue, say they were sorry, or tried to keep me.

I feel like I gave them many chances to fix the service issues, which I believe we should especially with the way the world is right now, but I had just reached a point with them. So, now I am shopping for a new mower and accessories to do my own lawn work which, in the long term, I know will be better and I will be happier. On the bright side, I will get more exercise. Haha!

Speaking of exercise, a quick update on the virtual race I mentioned a few weeks back – at a few weeks in, I have completed 124.1 miles of the 828. I am ahead of schedule and it has been an absolute blast! Another cool feature of the virtual race is that they will show you a picture of where you are in the race at that point when you log your time. Below is a picture they sent me yesterday when I finished running. Iceland looks beautiful! I could definitely get used to running with that landscape.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday!
