The CK Daily – Family First, Always

Hello CK friends!

Time is flying—can you believe it’s Friday again already? We just had a long weekend, and now we’re diving right back into another weekend.
Speaking of the long weekend, my original plans totally changed last minute. We had to make an unexpected trip to the city so I could bring my dad to see a dermatologist. He has a keloid on his chest that developed an open wound from constant itching, and it’s been painful for him lately. Thankfully, it wasn’t anything serious—just some antibiotics and a special cream, as prescribed by the doctor.

But here’s something I didn’t know: the dermatologist told us keloids can be hereditary. Now I’m low-key worried that either my brother or I might develop them, too. My dad said it started as a tiny pimple and just kept growing—now it’s about 3 inches long and has spread into three keloids! Even if they’re removed, they might just grow back since he’s keloid-prone. Hoping and praying they stop growing and that neither my brother nor I inherit the tendency.

Before heading back home, I squeezed in a quick dinner date with my mom and dad. It wasn’t a complete family outing (my brother couldn’t make it), but I’m still grateful for that little moment we had together.
Sometimes, the plans we make just don’t go the way we imagined—but they lead to something meaningful anyway.

How about you? Did any of your long weekend plans shift last minute? How did you end up spending the holiday?

Kat

The CK Daily – Two left feet..literally!

Happy Thursday!

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend ahead! It may not be as long as the last one, but I still think it’ll be a good one.

I have a funny story to tell this week. I went shopping for some new everyday tennis shoes this week and decided to check out Classic City Running in Buford. They have a foot scanner to help find the perfect fit, and I was really excited to try it. The staff was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process, and guided me through different brands, styles, and widths. I’d highly recommend them to anyone in the Buford/Mall of Georgia area!

But… in the chaos of trying everything on, I walked out of the store with two left shoes. Yes, I literally have two left feet haha. I was shopping with a friend who tried on another pair of the exact same shoes, so we must’ve swapped the right and left without realizing! Luckily, I called, and I am headed back this weekend to get it all sorted out!

And I have a silver lining, going back means I have the perfect excuse to swing by the mall and check out new summer items. Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Rachel

The CK Daily – A Trip to Texas

Happy Wednesday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! This weekend my husband and I took a mini baby moon/5-year anniversary trip to Texas! I don’t know what it is about Texas, but I love it. If my entire family didn’t live close by, I think I’d move there.

This weekend we spent some time in downtown Dallas, at the Stockyards in Ft. Worth, and of course Waco! We had such a great time hanging out and also catching up on some much needed sleep that we haven’t gotten in a while because we’ve been SO busy. We ate at some wonderful places and really just had a good time exploring, which I think was a nice flash back down memory lane for us, because that’s all we did when we first met. We’d say this weekend let’s go to XYZ and we went! That’s how we got the joy of being able to visit so many places before we slowed down a bit and started welcoming little one’s into our lives.

I’m looking forward to our next trip together already! Have you been to Texas? What’s your favorite part or thing to do there?

Ashley

The CK Daily – A Memorial Day Makeover (Garage Edition)

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend! It’s always a bit of a bittersweet holiday—while I love the laid-back vibe and the unofficial kickoff to summer, I also feel the deep significance of the day as we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.

My family usually gathers for a small cookout, but this year our schedules didn’t quite line up, so we skipped the usual tradition. Instead, I spent the day bouncing between projects! I started at my best friend’s house helping her with something she’s been working on, and then came home to tackle the chaos that is my garage.

After living in my house for five years—and sharing it with my brother and his kids for nearly half that time—my garage had turned into the default dumping ground for anything without a proper home. It had gotten completely out of control. I spent hours sorting, purging, and sweeping, and while I made solid progress, there’s still a long road ahead!

Here’s to small wins, fresh starts, and the satisfaction of making progress—even if it’s just one box at a time. Wishing you all a productive and positive week ahead!

Rebecca

It’s Friday! Sometimes it’s the little things—like finding a lucky penny—that keep us going. What small win are you celebrating today?

In This Issue: Long Weekend Vibes | Deal of the Day | Cat6 Keystone Jack | Cisco’s QSA Network Adapter | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Long Weekend Vibes

Hello everyone! You made it—happy almost-weekend!
And not just any weekend… it’s a long one! Who else is excited? (Aside from me, of course!)

I’ve already started thinking about what to do with my fam, but I guess we’ll be staying home since our fence construction is still in progress. We can’t really leave the house unattended, so I’m thinking of sneaking in a short walk to the nearby beach just to unwind a little before the sun gets too intense. And I mean intense—by 8 AM, it already feels like the sun’s trying to peel my skin.

Also, I’ve been craving ice cream lately. I miss it! The last time I had some, I ended up with tonsillitis and colds… not sure if that was just bad timing or the ice cream’s revenge. But you know what? I still love it. Nothing and no one can take that away!

Advance Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Any exciting plans for the long weekend? How do you usually spend your extra day off? I’d love to hear your ideas—whether it’s chilling at home, going on a mini road trip, or just catching up on sleep (which honestly sounds amazing too!).

Wishing you all a restful, fun, and meaningful holiday!

The CK Daily – Swims & Sweet Treats

Happy Thursday!

This past weekend was just what I needed! I got to relax by the pool, and it even got warm enough to jump in! It felt so good to kick off summer with some sunshine and hanging out in the backyard. I also had an amazing time celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday. We made something I’ve never had, an ice cream sandwich cake. It was so good that I might make it again for my birthday! It had a layer of mini-ice cream sandwiches, cool whip, hot fudge, and crushed oreos… you stack it all up and then do another layer of it all again. So simple yet so yummy and especially refreshing after swimming a few laps!

Coming back home was tough after such an eventful weekend, but luckily, I’m headed back again tomorrow! It’s one of my last long weekends there for a while, so I’m planning to soak it all in while I can. I’m sure I’ll be back sooner rather than later, but I still can’t wait til then!
