CK Daily – 07.31.2024

Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a little over a week left in the Olympics. Have you enjoyed watching these Olympians compete and do what they do best?

The CK Daily – The Big ONE!

Happy Wednesday!

This week is a big week and I don’t know if I’m ready for it (even though we’re halfway through it). On Friday, I’ll officially have a 1 year old and I can’t even comprehend where the time has gone. Being a mom has been one of the toughest yet most rewarding things I’ve ever done…and I’m sure it will only get tougher.

A few things I’ve loved about the past year:

-The growth. I’ve grown up around little ones my entire life, but for some reason never took the time to realize the rapid development. It’s insane how one day, they are so dependent on you and then on year later they are independent as ever!

-The laughs and smiles. UNREAL how a smile and simple baby laugh just melts you and also somehow humbles you at the same time. We’re so caught up in the day to day of things and have a hard time finding joy in simple things. Yet…our little ones find joy in the most simple things (winking at them, playing peek-a-book, and SO much more) and boy it can hit you hard.

-The moments that make you slowdown. I’m a go, go, go kind of girl. I’m balancing lots of plates at once and it’s not often, pre-mom life, that I took moments to slow down. Now days, I do. There is nothing I won’t do to put everything aside and play, snuggle, or just give attention to my little guy. There’s just nothing greater than this time, especially in the world of constant notifications.

I’m so grateful for this year and the growth that has come with it for me, my little one, my husband, and really my entire family! I look forward to the growth to come in the years ahead. Cheers to the big ONE!

Ashley

The CK Daily – All Things Olympics

Good Morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is off to a great start this week! Have you been watching the coverage of the Olympics this week? Unless you live under a rock, you probably have seen at least some of it! I’m not one who watches much television, but have enjoyed watching a few minutes of various events and I have to admit, it’s so fun to watch the best in the world compete and to cheer for your country!

I so admire the dedication that these athletes have to their sports. They have poured in years of their lives and made countless sacrifices to chase their dreams. I’m sure they have all doubted themselves at various points along the way and had moments where they felt like quitting, but they pushed through and now are getting to compete with the best in the world. That has to be a great feeling and I really admire all the effort that went into getting them to where they are!

I’m not an athlete, but I do enjoy running so I’m really excited for the track and field events! What are your favorite Olympic events?

Rebecca

Learning Center Article – BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) vs OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)

The internet is arguably the most useful bit of technology we have, but when you get into the nuts and bolts of how it actually works, it can be a lot. The best way to master potentially challenging networking concepts is one idea at a time. With that in mind, we can focus today on two common connection protocols: BGP and OSPF.

Happy Monday! Have you been keeping up with the Olympics? Be sure to check out the medal counts here.

In This Issue: A Tech Free Trip! | Digital Optical Cable Toslink | Standard Ethernet RJ45 vs Keyed RJ45 Connectors | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – A Tech Free Trip!

Happy Monday!

I’m writing this CK Daily a bit early, because I’ll be returning from a camping trip on Monday at a campsite that has no cell signal with the closest town being 30 minutes drive away. By now the Olympic ceremonies will have concluded (this will be the major thing that I’ll be missing out on, I’ve seen the opening ceremony with my family for as long as I can remember), but we live in a wonderful age of technology and we’ll enjoy the recording when we get back! I hope it’s a great opening ceremony!

It’s sometimes a bit scary being cut off from the world, but I think it’s good to disconnect every once and a while. I can’t believe I grew up (at least my childhood) in a world without the internet, I don’t think any of the newer generations can fully relate (maybe if they are Amish), but I can certainly give my kids the experience while out camping. I want to show them that they don’t need screen time to enjoy life and have fun! It’s also a reminder to myself, because I’m a tech nerd and love my built out PC and video games and streaming services, Twitter, and Discord! Also I might miss air conditioning, haha, but I think I’ll survive.

If you can’t go out camping, maybe having a tech free day would be something fun to experiment with! I hope you have a great day and a wonderful week!

The CK Daily – The Great State of Ohio!

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you’re having a great week. This week my husband and I are taking some grand adventures across the state of Ohio! On Saturday, we have a wedding to attend, so we decided to spend the week stopping by and seeing some of our old friends…and it’s been so sweet!

We started the week in Dayton, are now in Columbus, and will head to Akron in a few days. We lived in Ohio a few years ago and we loved it. To be honest, we miss it! So it’s been nice to just enjoy some time up here and see our friends who we’ve stayed connected with through the years. It’s also been fun because for some, it’s the first time their meeting Carter and there’s just something so fun about introducing people to your little one!

Anyway, this week and next week are going to be a roller coaster. Next week our little guy turns 1 and ahh…I really just don’t even know where the time went. We’re also having a fun gender reveal party for my older brother, so needless to say – there’s lots happening! Just hoping that I’m able to sit back and soak it all in.

Hope you have a great rest of your week!

Ashley

Learning Center Article – COM, EXT, IND – Temperature Ranges for SFPs

When you build a network, you primarily focus on hardware that meets certain requirements. It has to be fast enough and able to manage enough traffic for your applications.

In some cases, it might also need durability requirements, and one of the scariest things for sensitive networking equipment (like SFPs) is something as simple as temperature. If it gets too hot or too cold, it can damage your hardware, and your whole network fails.
