Job Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the e-commerce strategy aligned with company goals.
  • Set and manage revenue and performance targets (e.g., sales growth, conversion rate, AOV).
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between marketing, product, IT, operations, and customer service.
  • Manage e-commerce budget including advertising spend, tools, and personnel.
  • Forecast trends in customer behavior and digital commerce technologies.

Website & User Experience (UX)

  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of the company’s website or online store.
  • Ensure the site is user-friendly, responsive, and secure across all devices.
  • Implement and test UX/UI improvements based on customer behavior and analytics.
  • Manage product listings and content (images, descriptions, attributes, SEO).

Analytics & Performance Tracking

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as traffic, conversion rate, cart abandonment, and CLV.
  • Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics, GA4, Hotjar) to gather insights and inform decisions.
  • Conduct A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
  • Report on results and recommend action plans to leadership.

Digital Marketing Oversight

  • Coordinate marketing campaigns across paid search, SEO, email, affiliate, and social media.
  • Ensure marketing efforts align with promotions and product launches.
  • Oversee retargeting, upselling, and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Work with marketing to manage customer journey and lifecycle marketing.

Operations & Fulfillment

  • Ensure seamless integration between e-commerce platform and warehouse/fulfillment systems.
  • Coordinate with logistics to maintain accurate inventory levels and avoid stockouts.
  • Manage return and refund processes and optimize customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with customer service to ensure smooth issue resolution.

Technology & Platform Management

  • Oversee e-commerce platform(s) (Custom Developed).
  • Work with developers or IT teams to implement site changes and integrations.
  • Manage third-party tools (e.g., review apps, personalization engines, chatbots).
  • Evaluate and onboard new technologies to enhance the digital experience.

Team Leadership & Vendor Management

  • Hire, train, and manage e-commerce staff including coordinators, analysts, and developers.
  • Work with external agencies or freelancers for marketing, development, or design.
  • Hold vendors accountable for deliverables and performance metrics.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and payment security (PCI-DSS).
  • Monitor for fraud and suspicious activity.
  • Maintain uptime and site security, especially during major promotions or holiday periods.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in developing and leading E-Commerce strategies
  • Experience with a small to midsize is ideal, selling tech centric products is ideal
  • A degree in Business, E-Commerce, Marketing or another related field is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience leading UX for online stores
  • Experience analyzing KPIs and performance data, specifically Google Analytics/GA4
  • Leadership of E-Commerce teams and vendor management and relationships
  • Experience identifying and managing compliance and risk aspects
