The CK Daily – Summer Countdowns & Pokémon Playoffs

Happy Monday!

We’re counting down the weeks till the end of the school year and the start of summer! Only a few more weeks left and the kids are definitely ready for the break. The kids enjoyed Star Wars Day at our local ballpark where they got to meet a bunch of different characters from the Star Wars universe. My 5-year-old loved every character except the Jawas, which seemed to creep her out! I don’t blame her, those things are definitely “sus” as the kids say. I mean what’s behind their hoods? Speaking of Star Wars, if you haven’t had a chance to check out Andor, I highly recommend it!

On Saturday I also got the opportunity to compete at a medium sized Pokémon tournament and was able to finish 3rd and was able to get some store credit prizing. The competition was pretty intense, not as intense as the big regional that I attended last month, but intense, nonetheless. The competition was 6 hours consisting of 5 consecutive swiss rounds and a top 4 best of 3. I’m finally starting to get the more nuanced mechanics of the game down, hopefully I’ll clutch the next one.

The CK Daily – Sunshine, Sand & Sweet Memories

Good morning & Happy Friday! Hope everyone has had a wonderful week… we’ve made it to Friday!

I actually have spent the week on Hilton Head Island which is my favorite place to be – especially this time of year! I love the weeks between Spring Break and Summer Vacation when it’s not too crowded and the weather is typically heavenly! We’ve had abundant sunshine, low humidity, and highs in the 70’s which I would say is about as perfect as it gets!

This trip was extra special because the man I’m dating was able to come down for a few days with his son. It was their first time visiting HHI, so it was such a joy to show them around and watch them experience it for the first time. One of their favorite outings was visiting Harbour Town — they loved seeing the boats and, of course, the iconic lighthouse!

They stayed at the Disney resort on the island, which is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s not your typical “Disney” feel — definitely more laid-back than what you might expect — but it has a great beach house and a super fun pool area where they play music and host activities for kids like water slide races. They had a blast!

All in all, it was a wonderful trip, and I’m so grateful for the memories we got to make together!

Happy first day of May, everyone!

I know this is a busy time for many people- kids are wrapping up their last month (or months) of school, summer plans are forming, and the warm weather is here to stay! It feels like the month of transitions, from a strict school routine to summer fun.

I’m currently in the thick of finals week for college, with study sessions and finishing up those last projects. This has been getting me especially excited about what’s ahead this summer – mainly having more time to spend outside, in fresh air.
