Tuesday Check-In ✅ How’s your week going so far? We hope it’s shaping up to be a productive one! What’s something you’re looking forward to?

The CK Daily – The Psychology of Responsibility

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

The other day, I finally checked out a local coffee and sandwich shop that I’ve been meaning to try for months. They’ve got a great selection of gluten free options which is a win for me since I have Celiac and have to eat gluten free 100% of the time. I’m happy to report that it did not disappoint! Not only was the food delicious, but it was a wonderful spot to set up my laptop and get a bit of work done.

While I was there, the lady at the table next to me got up and asked if I could watch her things while she stepped away to use the restroom. Of course, I said yes. When she returned, she told me she was a psychology major and shared an interesting study with me.

She said there’s a study that shows if you leave your belongings unattended in a public place, most people will just assume they’re someone else’s responsibility—and if someone tries to steal them, bystanders usually won’t step in. But if you ask just one person to keep an eye on your things, that person feels a sense of responsibility and is much more likely to intervene if something happens.

It’s a fascinating look at human behavior and the power of personal responsibility. It got me thinking about how often we assume “someone else will handle it” in all areas of life—at work, at home, even in our communities. But when we take ownership (or ask others to), things change.

So, next time you need to step away from your laptop or bag in a busy café, just ask. It’s a small request, but it could make all the difference!

What do you think? Have you ever experienced this in action?

Rebecca

The CK Daily – From State Champs to World Stage

Happy Monday!

On Friday we headed to Columbus State University in Columbus, GA where the State Odyssey of the Mind competitions were being held. Teams from all across Georgia arrived to showcase their creativity and engineering skills and once again it was an all-day event. I was a bit nervous for our team as I saw the other teams in our division bring their A game but was immensely proud once our team took to the stage. Not only was their performance nearly flawless, but they also killed it in the structural engineering portion. Their structure held so much weight that it was unsafe to add any more on top of it. The structure survived and could’ve held at least 200 more lbs. I’m not supposed to give out specifics, but it was a lot of weight! Once again, the team got first place and are now advancing to the World’s competition at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. The kids were thrilled and are excited to see what awaits them at the end of the school year when they travel to compete.

Other than that, the rest of the weekend flew by and we took some time to relax. If you are ever in the Columbus, GA area, I highly recommend The Columbus Museum. It’s a small, but lovely Museum that houses works from prominent American artists. They even had a couple of paintings from The Hudson River School, one of my favorite art movements. There’s also no admission fee and the museum is run on donations.

Anyways, I hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful week!

Cris

The CK Daily – A Walking Miracle

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has had a great week! This week has been WILD! It’s been a week of meetings and long to-do lists, so I’m thrilled that it’s Friday.

This week we got the chance to attend my cousin’s 8th grade night soccer game and it was a blast! It was great to see all of the family but also fun seeing her do what she does best…and she scored a goal! But I think what was the most overwhelming to see was my Aunt. I shared with you all not too long ago that we had quite a bit going on in our family, but one of those things being that my aunt was having a major heart surgery.

This week was the first time that I had seen her in person and it was crazy! She truly is a walking miracle. To see her doing all that she was doing and just loving it all…honestly, a bit of a tear jerker but an incredible reminder that God is good.

Cheers to a great weekend ahead!

Ashley

Learning Center Article – Patch Cables vs. Ethernet Cables

Even as networking gets faster and more complicated, Ethernet remains a common, reliable, effective way to enable digital communication. It’s a staple for a reason, and it’s not going away anytime soon. If you’re trying to work out aspects of your own Ethernet network, you might run into a few terms. For instance, you might see cables listed as “patch cables.” What does that mean? Does it matter? How do you use such cables?

The CK Daily – Fun-Filled Weekend in Statesboro

Good morning and happy Thursday!

This past weekend, I took a trip to Statesboro to visit family, and it was packed with lots of laughs and good food. The weekend started off with a fun game that I’ll definitely be playing again soon – Monikers.

Monikers is like a mix of Taboo, Codenames, and Charades, all rolled into one. It’s a fast-paced game where you try to get your partner to guess the phrase on a card using clues. The catch is that in each round you can give fewer and fewer clues. Let’s just say, we couldn’t stop laughing while trying to explain things without saying what they were. It was the perfect game for us to unwind and bond after the long car ride, and it didn’t take long for me to be in tears from laughing so hard.

After our fun game night, we went to eat at Gnat’s Landing. If you’re ever in the area and need a casual place to eat, I recommend checking it out! Since I have a bit of a tradition when trying new places, I ordered the Chicken Caeser Wrap. I always gravitate toward it when I see it on the menu, and theirs didn’t disappoint.

All in all, it was a great weekend spent with family. It was exciting to try new games and go to new places. Sometimes the best weekends are simple ones, and this one reminded me of that.

Do you have a go-to game for family nights or a favorite dish you always order at new restaurants? I’d love to know and get new ideas for the future!

Rachel

The CK Daily – Boodle Fight

Hi, hello everyone!

How’s everything going so far?

Does anyone here know about Boodle Fights? This week, my family and I had one as a special welcome for my boyfriend, who finally came home after months of being away. My mom prepared a feast—chicken adobo, spring rolls, fresh veggies, fried fish, and a colorful spread of fruits. We usually do this for holidays or big celebrations, but since we had a surprise visitor, we decided to have it early instead of waiting for my mom’s birthday on March 25th. She’s turning 50—definitely another reason to celebrate!

If you were to have a Boodle Fight at home, what dishes would you include? Let’s hear it!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Learning Center Article – Best Practices for Cable Management in Data Centers

Every network administrator in the world has a horror story about cable management. In data centers, those horror stories grow into genuine nightmares. If enough people work on a system for a long enough period of time, the cables will eventually turn into some type of Ethernet vine monster. Only strict adherence to cable management practices can prevent this disaster.

The CK Daily – Casino Nights & BBQ

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

This past weekend was pretty low-key, but I made the most of the beautiful weather (excluding the overnight storms!). I’ve been loving the fact that it’s starting to warm up and have been soaking up as much time outside as possible—even on the cooler days. Fresh air and sunshine just do something good for the soul! While I didn’t get a hike in, I did enjoy some running and plenty of walking, which always makes me feel refreshed.

On Saturday night, I had the chance to attend a really fun event in Athens, GA—a James Bond-themed casino night fundraiser! The event supported an organization that helps adults with special needs live independently, and it was a great excuse to dress up, play a few games, and meet some incredible people who are making a real difference.
Sunday was much more relaxed, but the highlight was lunch at Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ. I’ve eaten there before and always loved it, but it’s one of those places I never think to go. This time, I ordered the loaded BBQ baked potato, which was insanely huge. When the manager came by, he mentioned that they give out a t-shirt to anyone who can finish the whole thing—but in all his years, he’s only seen one person do it. It sounded like a challenge, but as soon as it hit the table, I knew I didn’t stand a chance!

All in all, it was a great weekend—good food, good people, and time outside.

Hope you all had a great one, too!

Rebecca
