The CK Daily – Deer Drama

Hi everyone!

This past weekend definitely didn’t go as planned. On my way back to my hometown, a deer sprinted right in front of my car. Thankfully, it was small and I’m completely okay, but my car wasn’t quite as lucky. Now I must play the waiting game for my insurance and the body shop to hear what needs to be fixed and how long it’ll take. Fingers crossed it’s a quick turnaround because being without a car is never ideal!

Despite the rough start, the rest of the weekend turned around. Even with light showers over the past few days, I’ve been able to do bocce ball, pickle ball, and long walks (my favorite!) in the afternoon. I’ve also been watching the new episodes of Black Mirror – I would love to know your thoughts about it if you’ve been watching them too!

Overall, it was a hard start, but I’ve been focusing on the good things and will figure out the rest when it comes! I’m hoping this weekend is smoother than last one and maybe have less rainy weather! Have a great rest of your week and an amazing weekend ahead!

Rachel

Learning Center Article – Streaming Without Interruptions? These Ethernet Cables Make It Happen

In the age of 4K streaming, online gaming, and live broadcasting, one weak link in your home network can ruin everything. You’ve got the smart TV, the blazing-fast internet package, and the latest streaming apps, but if your connection stutters or buffers, the culprit might be hiding in plain sight: your Ethernet cable. Many people don’t realize how important a good Ethernet cable is for their home entertainment or gaming setup. Just like the right HDMI cable makes your picture clear, a quality Ethernet cable keeps your connection fast and steady. That means less buffering, smoother gameplay, and better streaming overall.

  • NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has uncovered a young planetary system 300 light-years away featuring two gas giants, YSES-1 b and YSES-1 c, that appear to be packed with coarse silica—yes, sand. One of the planets may even be experiencing sand rain. At just 16.7 million years old, the system offers a rare glimpse into the early stages of planetary evolution, possibly shedding light on how giants like Jupiter and Saturn formed in our own solar system.
  • Researchers from the SETI Institute have discovered that large, smoke ring-like bubbles in the ocean are created by humpback whales—possibly as a way to greet nearby humans. This unique form of communication could help scientists develop new methods to detect extraterrestrial life by better understanding non-human intelligence here on Earth.
  • Meta has rolled out a new AI-powered short video editor inspired by its groundbreaking Movie Gen technology. The tool allows users to transform videos with over 50 presets—changing clothing, locations, lighting, and even turning subjects into comic art, marble statues, or video game characters. This marks the first commercial product born from Meta’s Movie Gen research, bringing Hollywood-level visual effects to everyday creators in just seconds.
  • Coffee lovers and content creators, take note! Starbucks is offering a full-time, remote, 12-month role for two TikTok creators to travel to international locations and share coffee stories and regional menu items. The gig pays between $80,100 and $136,000, with travel covered by Delta and Marriott Bonvoy. To apply, post a TikTok using #StarbucksGlobalCoffeeCreator and submit your video with the application by June 14.

In This Issue: Meet Matt! | Deal of the Day | TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 Range Extender | EMI & RFI Protection in Ethernet Cables | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Meet Matt!

My name is Matt Mishkin, and I am the new Sales Manager at CablesAndKits!

I am originally from Evanston IL (just outside of Chicago), and that’s where most of my family still lives. I am blessed with an incredible Wife, Elena, as well as a one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl named Ruby. We also have a 4-year-old Bernedoodle named Nala, and a 12-year-old turtle (Red Eared Slider) named Mel.

Me, Elena, and the animals moved to Sandy Springs, GA two years ago while she was pregnant with Ruby. She grew up here, and her parents and much of her family still live in the area, which is fantastic. Elena and I initially met at the University of Michigan in 2011, and have been together ever since. I still consider myself lucky that she was adventurous enough to face the Michigan winters as a Southerner.

This past weekend, my dad was in town visiting from Chicago, and he spent lots of quality time with Ruby. Watching my parents interact with her is one of my favorite things in life. We took him to Waffle House, naturally, and tried to go swimming in our community pool Saturday afternoon after Ruby’s nap. We all got changed and lathered up in sunscreen, made sure we had full water bottles, snacks, and Ruby’s pool inflatables, walked over to the pool, and right then, dark clouds and thunder rolled in. Classic! My dad and I watched the NBA Finals on Sunday night, as we’re both big sports fans. Unfortunately, our beloved Chicago Bulls have been mediocre (at best) over the last decade. It was a great weekend filled with lots of family time.

Have a great rest of your week, everyone, and an early Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, especially mine!

Matt

Learning Center Article – EMI & RFI Protection in Ethernet Cables: What You Need to Know for Reliable Signal Integrity

As Ethernet deployments expand beyond simple office setups into more complex, high-interference environments, EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) have become major factors in performance loss and network reliability. These hidden threats can weaken signal integrity, slow down data transmission, and introduce frustrating packet loss. To get the most out of your Ethernet investment, you need to understand how shielding works and when it’s worth the upgrade.

The CK Daily – Outdoorsy Weekend, Indoor Ending

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone’s having a great week so far!

I had a really fun and much-needed relaxing weekend! On Friday, Josh and I checked out the monthly summer concert series my town hosts on the first Friday of each month. It was such a great time—and I love how our town puts on events like that to bring the community together!

Saturday took us up to North Georgia for a little hiking adventure! We hit Preacher’s Rock, a quick 2-mile trek along the Appalachian Trail that rewards you with incredible views. The weather was perfect—sunny and warm without being too hot. After getting back to town, we grabbed dinner, but as we were leaving, we noticed some ominous clouds rolling in… and then the skies opened up! A major storm hit, and my power went out from 6:30 PM all the way until 4:00 AM.

With nothing else to do, we went for a drive and attempted to walk around Walmart—only to find it was closed from the outage. Same story at the first Waffle House we tried. Thankfully, we found another one that was open and hung out there while the storm damage settled. It was wild to see how much impact the storm had! Being without power definitely wasn’t ideal, but I’m incredibly thankful for the linemen who worked through the night to get everything back up and running!

Wishing you all a great rest of the week!

Rebecca

Happy Monday! It’s National Donald Duck Day—here’s to starting the week with a little humor and a lot of character. What’s your Monday routine to shake off a “quacky” mood?

In This Issue: Stormy Nights, Summer Breaks | Deal of the Day | Cat6 RJ45 110 Type 180° Keystone Jack | Gigabit vs. 10GbE Ethernet Cables | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Stormy Nights, Summer Breaks

Happy Monday!

Saturday morning, I headed over to our new church building site to help with some much-needed yard work and some maintenance projects. There was a lot of shoveling and moving of dirt, but we were able to get a lot done and luckily, we had folks with heavy machinery to help move the big stuff. Afterwards we had a game night with our neighbors at our home and enjoyed playing some board games. While we were enjoying our gaming, there was a storm brewing outside and the winds picked up and knocked over an umbrella outside. There were pretty huge gusts of winds and a few minutes later the power went out. Apparently that night North Georgia got hit with some pretty nasty storms and tree limbs and trees were down everywhere, downing many power lines. Luckily crews were able to get the power back online pretty quickly. I’m thankful no trees were down in our neighborhood!

This week my kids are headed to vacation Bible school at a friend’s church, and they are super excited about it. As parents we’re thankful for the short few hours break we get! The kids are already getting stir crazy, so having some activities and events for them to go to has definitely been a blessing!

I hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful week!

Cris

Learning Center Article – Fix Network Bottlenecks Fast: The Truth About Gigabit vs. 10GbE Ethernet Cables

Not long ago, 10GbE (10-Gigabit Ethernet) was reserved for high-density data centers and large enterprise networks. It was expensive, power-hungry, and typically overbuilt for everyday applications. But those assumptions no longer hold. As digital demands surge, fueled by 4K streaming, cloud workflows, media-heavy backups, and multi-device households, networks built around Gigabit Ethernet are beginning to show their limits.

The CK Daily – Cozy Vibes Incoming

Hello Friday peeps!

How’s your week been so far?

Here in the Philippines, the weather has started to shift. While the U.S. is getting ready for summer, we’re about to enter the rainy season—officially in about two weeks, according to the news. But honestly? It already feels like it’s here. We’ve been getting strong rains and loud thunder lately!
This means fewer outdoor activities and more cozy, “bed weather” days. On the bright side, I might finally make progress on my diamond paintings! The only downside is our fence construction is still unfinished, so I’m hoping we can wrap it up before the nonstop rain begins.

How about you—what kind of weather do you enjoy the most? Are you Team Sun or Team Rain? And what’s your favorite thing to do when it’s pouring outside?

Happy weekend, everyone! You did great this week. 💪

The CK Daily – Shopping Wins & Fro-yo

Good morning!

This past weekend was the perfect taste of summer! Some shopping, relaxing, and falling asleep outside with the perfect mix of cloudy and windy weather. Shopping usually takes a lot out of me, but this time I was super successful in the first store. I walked into the mall with only a vague idea of what I was looking for and somehow came out with exactly what I needed for my upcoming vacation! There are still a few more things to check off my list, but it feels good to have the big stuff out of the way!

I’m also really looking forward to this weekend because I get to enjoy one of my all-time favorite treats, frozen yogurt! There are no fro yo spots near me, so I planned a trip to Menchie’s with a few friends while I’m in my hometown. It’s supposed to be a beautiful sunny day, so I’m thinking of turning it into a mini picnic to make the most of it!

It’s been a week of enjoying the little things, shopping wins and sweet treats with friends. Do you have a favorite treat or snack to enjoy with friends and family? I’d love to get some ideas for my picnic this weekend!
