CK Daily – 10.22.2024

October 22, 2024 by CablesAndKits

Happy Tuesday! Halloween is just around the corner, are you ready? Do you usually pass out candy or take your kiddos trick-or-treating? Do you do family costumes? We’d love to see your costumes if so!

The CK Daily – Finding Light in Heavy Times

Good Morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

How about some real talk for your Tuesday? Haha – I normally like to be upbeat and positive writing for the CK Daily but, if I’m being honest, I’m in a bit of a funk lately dealing with some personal/family stuff. Add on top of that all the heartbreaking things that have happened/are happening lately both locally and around the world and life can just feel super heavy at times. If you’re feeling it too, you’re not alone!!

As an upbeat and optimistic person by nature, it’s pretty uncomfortable to be forced to deal with not so pleasant thoughts and emotions, but I’m trying to be intentional about looking for the good, trusting God even when I don’t understand, and surrounding myself with people who speak truth and are uplifting. I actually recently got back into attending church which has been so good for the soul!

This Wednesday I’m heading to Hilton Head Island for a little vacation which I’m very much looking forward to. It should be a nice break both physically and mentally! Hoping to come back feeling refreshed and having a better perspective on all that’s happening!

Have a great week!

Rebecca

In This Issue: Life with Animals | Deal of the Day | RCA Cable 2-Male to 2-Male | The Ultimate Guide to Understanding Client-Server Networks | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Life with Animals

Happy Wednesday!

Do you have animals? Sometimes I think about what life would be like without the animals that we have and truthfully…it would be boring. There is literally never a dull moment with one of them. One minute we might be cracking up watching our cat attempt to catch a bug that’s on the outside of the window. Or convincing our dogs that they are barking at nothing, even though they are convinced the wicked witch of the west is at the front door. Truthfully, not a second goes by where they are not keeping us on our toes.

Ever since we’ve had our little guy, life with animals and him is just so much sweeter. I’ll be honest…I was superrrrrrrr nervous about what things were going to look like with him and our animals. Would they get along? What if he pulled their hair? What if he stuck his hand in their food? All the “what ifs” filled my head. Not that our dogs (or cat) are aggressive animals, but you just never know! Well…boy has it been the sweetest sight.

At first, they stayed pretty far away from him other than the occasional sniff of the smelly diaper but now that we’re eating full meals, they are all his best friend. I think their favorite time of day is dinner time because there is a 99% chance food is going to go flying to the floor for them or he’s going to give them bits of food on his own! The dogs don’t quite get they can’t speed past him without knocking him over, but aside from that it’s been a joy. And lately, he’s been pretty into giving hugs…and there is just nothing sweeter than that.

The CK Daily – Community & Compassion

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone’s week is going great so far!

I’m back from my trip down to Augusta, GA and I’ve got to say that last week was one of the most impactful weeks of my life. If you’ve been paying attention to the news at all, your heart has probably been broken by the devastation and suffering that so many across the Southeast are dealing with in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The destruction felt uniquely personal given that it affected an area of the country that I call “home”. I love my native state of Georgia and the beautiful surrounding states where I spend so much time outdoors.

Given the fact that my friend, Jen, and I have been blessed with a social media following, we knew we wanted to do our best to leverage it for good and all I can say is WOW. We were absolutely blown away by the generosity of our local businesses, local governments, and citizens who all showed up to support our fellow Georgian’s in a big way! We ended up holding a total of 3 donation drives that completely exceeded our expectations. There was not one inch of extra space in any of the vehicles that we took to Augusta!

Once down there, we worked with an incredible nonprofit called Hub Augusta which is a dynamic, community-centered space that houses several key non-profits that are dedicated to uplifting the local community including Augusta Locally Grown, the Augusta Literacy Center, RISE Augusta, the Boys & Girls Club, and Harrisburg Family Health Care. The facility was beautiful and we met so many local leaders who had been working tirelessly since the hurricane hit to help it run efficiently and be a center where locals could come to receive the assistance they need.

We teamed up with an amazing doctor from the health center who joined us as we went into the community to distribute the donations. We completely filled 2 food pantries with food and other essentials, and contributed goods to 2 more. It was both a heartbreaking and heartwarming experience. The people of this area are so resilient and it was our honor to meet them and do our small part to help.

The whole experience has been a powerful reminder of how important community is and the difference we can make when we come together to help those in need. Every effort – no matter how small – can make a world of difference!

Happy Monday! Let’s kick off the week strong. A new week brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and crush those goals. Make it a great one!

The CK Daily – Are flying cars next?

Happy Monday!

Did you all see the Tesla’s “We, Robot” event? Elon Musk revealed his new fleet and line of autonomous cars including the cybercab and robovan (which he pronounces rah bow vin) and his vision for the autonomous future. These cars have no steering wheels and no pedals. The van doesn’t even have a windshield! Quite wild if you ask me! Alongside these vehicles, Elon showcased updates to his humanoid robot, Optimus. What’s being revealed and the style in which it’s been revealed reminds me of what I thought of the future. Kid me thought we would have flying cars everywhere though, so I’m still waiting on that.

I think this type of technology will be super helpful for those who aren’t able to drive (or shouldn’t drive), but I also feel like there’s going to be a sense of lost autonomy for us humans as it relates to driving cars and vehicles. Maybe in the future the only way you could manually drive a car is on a track (like places you go to now in order to ride a horse or enjoy a horse and carriage ride). The other fascinating part of it is that it’s all powered by batteries. Are we seeing the end for gas stations? Lots to ponder about and possibly even watch as it unfolds in the next couple of years. What do you think will happen in the future of autonomous vehicles?

Here’s a short recap of the event.

I hope you have a great day and a wonderful week!

Cris
