The CK Daily – A Weekend of Fun ☀️

Happy Monday!

We had another busy weekend. We spent Saturday afternoon at my parent’s house for an early Mother’s Day lunch. Then later in the afternoon we went to my daughter’s Spring piano recital and even though she was quite nervous, she nailed it and played beautifully. That evening we attended a pre-release Pokemon tournament and my daughter won 2 out of her 3 games. She had a ton of fun and I love seeing the competitive side come out of her.

On Sunday after church, we had a cookout and enjoyed the humidity-free sunny weather, and celebrated Mother’s Day. We’re now counting down the days until Summer when the kids are out of school and life slows down a little bit. I’m looking forward to the lazier days of summer. I hope you have a great day and a wonderful week!

Learning Center Article – COM, EXT, IND – Temperature Ranges for SFPs

When you build a network, you primarily focus on hardware that meets certain requirements. It has to be fast enough and able to manage enough traffic for your applications.

In some cases, it might also need durability requirements, and one of the scariest things for sensitive networking equipment (like SFPs) is something as simple as temperature. If it gets too hot or too cold, it can damage your hardware, and your whole network fails.

Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here. Do you have any plans you’re looking forward to?

In This Issue: Summer is Here! ☀️ | Cisco 7900 Series IP Phone Handset | Amps, Watts, and Volts Calculation | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Summer is Here! ☀️

Good morning!

As the end of the school year draws near for my kids, I find myself anticipating the arrival of summer break… longer days, warmer weather, yard work, time at the pool and outside in general, and more time with family and friends.

Summer break represents more than just a hiatus of the grind of the school week and sports schedules; for me it’s a time to get caught up on projects I’ve been putting off, spending more time with family doing things that we wouldn’t normally get to do, and flat out relaxing!

One thing we always plan for the summer is to take the kids tubing up in Helen, GA; also commonly referred to as ‘shoot the Hooch’. There is nothing like cooling off, relaxing, and enjoying a leisurely float down the Chattahoochee River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. We usually follow that up with lunch at this German restaurant I love called Hofers, and you can’t visit Helen without going to one of their famous candy/fudge shops! It’s memories like this that make me enjoy the summer months so much!

The best schnitzel in Helen!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Happy Wednesday! I’ll keep today short and sweet.

I’m spending the next two days out of the office on a little adventure by myself. It’s the first time that I’ve been away from my sweet little one and without my husband, since we welcomed him into this world. I’m a little nervous but also am grateful!

Here’s what I’m keeping in mind.

  1. He’s safe.
  2. The time to reset and rest is good.
  3. I’ll see him tomorrow!!

Hope you have a great week ahead!

The CK Daily – 7 Habits for Long-Term Rewards

Good Morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is having a great week!

I was supposed to head out of town for a cabin stay over the weekend, but a combination of circumstances caused us to reschedule so instead I enjoyed a weekend at home. It was actually nice to take a breather and catch up on some things around the house. We also celebrated my niece’s 4th birthday which was lots of fun!

In some of my downtime over the weekend I was scrolling Instagram and came across a post that caught my eye. It was talking about 7 habits that are really hard, but that pay off big time in the long run. It was interesting to me so I’ll share the habits with you!

  1. Delaying gratification
  2. Breaking the procrastination cycle
  3. Saying “no”
  4. Fixing your sleep
  5. Feeling the fear and doing it anyway
  6. Being consistent
  7. Seeking feedback

Each of these habits are extremely valuable and I definitely have room to improve on all of them! What about you!?

Rebecca

The CK Daily – Birthdays, Bugs & Fun!

Happy Monday!

Today, I’m recovering from a busy weekend. On Saturday we went over to my wife’s cousin’s house to celebrate his 50th birthday in the small sleepy town of Gillsville, Georgia (population 308 in 2022). The birthday party turned out to be a pool party, so the kids jumped in and had a blast swimming around with their cousins. We had a great time catching up with family we hadn’t seen in a while and even though it rained a little, we still enjoyed the time outside.

On Sunday, we spent more time outdoors doing yard work between the off and on showers and the kids found a new favorite activity. There has been an overabundance of roly-poly bugs (also known as isopods, woodlouse, pill bugs, slaters, potato bugs, butchy boys, and doodle bugs, but we mostly call them roly polies in the South), and my daughters love to catch them and have them roll up or crawl over their hands. They spent hours catching these bugs and playing with them. Who knew bugs could provide so much entertainment? Fun fact, when the roly-poly rolls up into a ball it’s called conglobation.

Well, that’s all I have for today, hope you have a great day and a wonderful week!

Cris
