The CK Daily – The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports!

Happy Friday!

The Kentucky Derby is this weekend, who’s excited?! The Kentucky Derby is also known as ‘The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.’ This iconic event isn’t just about fast horses and fancy hats; it’s a showcase of top notch IT solutions transforming the world of horse racing.

So much goes on behind the scenes! Advanced technology powers every aspect of the Derby experience, from RFID chips seamlessly integrated into saddles for real-time tracking, to intricate betting algorithms processing millions of transactions in a blink. Data analytics take center stage, empowering teams to make strategic decisions driven by performance metrics and environmental factors. And let’s not forget the seamless live broadcasts, ensuring fans worldwide never miss a moment of the action!

Here are a few fun facts about the Kentucky Derby:

  • The Kentucky Derby has never, ever been canceled. The Run for the Roses has lived through some hard times in American history. But since its founding in 1875, the race has never been canceled.
  • Space is limited. Only 20 of the best of the best-thoroughbred racehorses compete every year. When you compare this to the number of horses born every year, that’s less than one percent of horses that get a chance to run.
  • Kentucky Derby facts aren’t all about the horses. The founder of the first race in the Triple Crown series wanted this event to compare to Paris Fashion Week.
  • You can win big! On top of a sweet blanket of roses, Derby winners take home approximately $2 million.

Want to read more fun facts about the race, here’s a list!

Will you be watching the race? What do you most look forward to about the Kentucky Derby?

Have a great weekend!

Happy Wednesday & Happy May! Graduation season is upon us. Do you have a graduate? Sending them lots of love and prayers in this season of celebration and transition!

In This Issue: Any Pickleball Fans Out There? | Deskmount Microphone Stand With Rotating Phone Holder & Pop-Filter | FAQ: MDF vs IDF | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Any Pickleball Fans Out There?!

Happy Wednesday! Hope you’re having a great week.

This weekend was a sweet one celebrating my husband’s birthday! Normally we’d go with family to TopGolf, but we decided to change it up a bit at try out a place called Pickle Social. If you didn’t guess it from the name, this was a place you could go, rent a court, and play all the pickleball your heart desired. It was SO FUN!

The experience is very similar to TopGolf. You reserve a court for however long you like, and then someone comes around serving food and drinks if you’d like them! I thought the coolest thing was how big this place was and the options of where you could play. They had indoor courts, outdoor courts, covered outdoor courts, and so much more! From the outside, it looked rather small but this was not the case at all. It was two floors, and had a rooftop space and a large outdoor area.

Some of the people in our family had never played, but seemed to love learning and I think we could convince them to play again! It was fun and was a great workout at the same time.

Are you a fan of pickleball? It seems like it’s been all the craze lately! I recently learned that there is a Professional Pickleball League and there are 24 teams in it. There’s actually an upcoming 3-day tournament happening in Atlanta soon!

I think my favorite thing about the sport is the paddles. I was a tennis player growing up and always loved doing what I could to my racquet to make it look cool! There are so many different designs and types of pickleball paddles – it kind of makes it fun!

Hope you have a great week and if you can, get out there and play some pickleball!

Learning Center Article – FAQ: MDF vs IDF

In the world of IT, acronyms are everywhere. It can be hard to keep up, so sometimes, you need to break down the acronyms to solidify what they mean and why they matter.

Applying that idea, today, we’re going to talk about MDF and IDF. These are key areas in large-scale networks, and while they sound similar in name (and appear similar in function), the key distinctions between them mean everything.
