Captain Picard, Isolation Gowns Launched, Fiber Cables, and Buying Pre-owned Cisco

Happy Monday!

Did you know that Jean Luc Picard is back in a new series “Star Trek: Picard”? I just finished season one a few weeks ago and it’s fantastic. A friend said “I would listen to Patrick Stewart read the phone book”. I grew up watching Next Generation and I agree. After I finished Picard, while I am waiting for a new season, I heard about and started watching Star Trek: Discovery. Also fantastic! VERY fantastic! I just finished the last episode of season 2 over the weekend. So then I said hmm … what now? I never thought I would do this …. I started watching the original series! I am only a few episodes in but it’s cool to see where it all started! I was shocked to find out there were only three seasons of the original show. So, it won’t take long to get through them and then figure out where to go from there. I may try to watch it all chronologically, including all the movies. If you haven’t seen the new shows I highly recommend them!

Believe it or not, at CablesAndKits, even though safety supplies have been in the spotlight lately, our primary business is technology. For most of our 19 years in business we have been focused in two major areas: Pre-owned and fully refurbished (by us) Cisco Network Hardware (Switches, Transceiver modules, Cisco Phones, etc) and Network infrastructure (Ethernet, Fiber Cabling, Power Cords, etc). Let me tell you a couple things that might change your life …

There is very little reason to buy Cisco Transceivers “new” from a Cisco partner / distributor (“the channel”). With the newest switches and firewalls and such, if you want “SmartNet” coverage, there are reasons why you might want to buy from the channel. Not so for transceivers. It is a pluggable module that has no “software” on it and cannot be covered by SmartNet independently anyway (it is covered by whatever device it is installed in at the time). You can pay $400-600 for one from the channel, or you can buy one pre-owned from us for $35-150 each. Pre-owned can mean “pre-loved”, tested, and refurbished, or it can mean brand new never used in the box. Think of it like this…. You bought 100 switches and 100 (or more) transceivers to deploy on a project and ended up with too many. You can’t return them to Cisco, so you sell them to someone like us. We offer them to our customers at a huge savings over buying from the channel. Another scenario is you install a transceiver, use it for months, weeks, or days, and remove and replace it with a different model. You sell that to us, we test it, clean it, and offer it for sale at a huge savings. In both cases we provide a LIFETIME warranty on these products and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. What do you have to lose? (The money you are wasting elsewhere, that’s what).

The most common Cisco transceiver bought today is the SFP-10G-SR. You can view the buying options and if you have ANY questions just let us know. If you are nervous about pre-owned, buy new. But I have been doing this 19 years and strongly suggest you buy the pre-owned. If nothing else, buy one and check it out. Back orders are ok – we have PLENTY of these in our supply chain. If you have any needs whatsoever, let us know and a sales rep can help you navigate the options, help you plan your options and delivery dates, etc.

We mastered fiber cabling many many years ago. We have three factories in China where our fiber cables are made and we receive shipments every day. In fact, our supply chain is so well oiled that we order fiber on Monday and it is manufactured and in the building on Thursday. (and Tue->Friday, Wed and Thur->Monday, etc). We have basic and premium options for fiber and our premium cables use Corning Fiber cores and upgraded connectors. Not only can you save a pile of money over the big name brands, you can work with people that can get you anything you need, when you need it.

This link will take you to a 1 Meter, OM3 (10 Gig), LC to LC Standard boot Premium fiber cable. It (and the basic version) is our best seller. From there you can change the different options to get what you need. And, if you want OM4 or OM5 (people do buy them but you’ll KNOW it when you need them) you can navigate to those pages in the top level navigation menu. You can order as many as you need and if they are not in stock they will ship in 3-5 days so order up! And as always, let us know if you have any questions at all.

I could go on and on about the things we sell, and I will try to fit in a product group here or there, but I figured it was my duty to at least mention a few of our top selling product lines! I’ll talk about other product lines and points of interest in future emails. If you have any questions let me know and I can also try to answer some of those in this email.
I’ve refactored the way the email is laid out, and I am sure I will refactor it 100 times in the future. I want to be verbose at times, but I don’t want to let something sit stale day after day if I can help it.

Start here: SAFETY SUPPLIES LANDING PAGE

NEWLY LAUNCHED:

Isolation Gowns are here! We have roughly 60,000 that just arrived and we have 800,000 more coming soon. There are some big orders in the works so if you need them, buy them on the site or reach out to me. I can get as many as needed.

RECENTLY LAUNCHED:

Our new Desktop Hand Sanitizer Dispenser is here. Here is a video of me demonstrating it.

I am still working on wall mount and floor stand models. I will have an update on those soon.

If you know anyone looking for large qty’s of 8oz bottles (for liquid or Gel hand sanitizer, or other liquids), send them here:

View our 8oz sport top bottles with caps. These are available as singles, in cases of 121 (odd right?), and pallets contain 7260 (we don’t have the pallet listed but you can email me or just order 60 cases which is a pallet). Here is a video of me demonstrating it.

Dispenser Pumps for Gallon, half Gallon, and Liter bottles.

Face Shields – They are not blue, they are white. You can see it on my big fat head HERE.

Thermometers should be here Tuesday. You can pre-order now.

Do you need shoe covers? I was offered some recently. 400,000 of them actually. There are 300 covers (150 pairs) per box and would be around $295 per box (about 0.98 per cover). Is this something you need?

I am still making progress on 75% alcohol wipes. More info coming soon.

Please let me know how I can be of service to you. If you need assistance with something, advice, or even if you just need someone to pray for you, I am here and listening.

Blessings,
Craig Haynie – CEO

COVID-19 News for Today

  • Over 1,872,000 people worldwide have recovered and over 346,000 people in the US have recovered!
  • The emotional health of Americans is improving as states move to reopen their economies following weeks of stay-at-home orders, a Gallup survey finds.
  • Fewer than half of Americans (47 percent) say they worried a lot of the previous day, down from 59 percent in a survey conducted in late March and early April.
  • Those reporting having experienced boredom have also dropped, to 41 percent from 46 percent. And those reporting having experienced happiness have risen to 72 percent, from 67 percent.
  • Meanwhile, the number of Americans reporting loneliness has remained unchanged, with 24 percent saying they experienced it “a lot” during the previous day.
  • After more than two months, Italy took further steps Monday to exit its prolonged coronavirus restrictions, allowing restaurants, hairdressers and shops to reopen and public masses to resume. The return of public masses marked the end of a confrontation between the Italian government and the Catholic Church over the timing of that move, which the government had originally scheduled for later.
  • • Four months into the U.S. coronavirus outbreak, tests for the virus finally are becoming widely available, a crucial step toward lifting stay-at-home orders and safely returning to normal life. But while many states no longer report crippling supply shortages, a new problem has emerged: too few people lining up to get tested.
  • • Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary slammed the British government for its handling of the coronavirus crisis on Monday and called plans to impose a 14-day quarantine for international travelers “laughable.” Speaking to BBC Radio 4, O’Leary said the policy was “idiotic and unimplementable,” adding that officials should be taking steps to impose more “effective measures,” such as issuing clearer guidance on face masks. The new quarantine policy has not been easy to understand. Under the rule, those arriving in Britain will have to self-isolate for two weeks — a restriction that some critics say should have been implemented earlier in the year.
  • Chinese president Xi Jinping will deliver a speech to the World Health Assembly on Monday, according to the state-run Global Times, amid global calls for an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus.
  • Hundreds of military personnel are reenlisting or postponing their departures from the armed forces this year, the Associated Press reported, as a historic economic downturn casts a cloud of uncertainty over employment and college prospects.
  • Across all three branches, hundreds of service members are signing up for new short-term extensions that offer job security, steady paycheck and benefits — a combination that has all but vanished from the job market during the coronavirus pandemic.

If you received this email from a friend/co-worker/complete stranger and want to sign-up to receive it yourself, you can do so HERE.

Happy FRIDAY!!!!

Forward this email to 10 people or your cat will melt. That sounds a lot like the emails we used to get back in the day. “If you don’t send this email to 10 people you know, you will become infested with Argentinian sweat worms”. I don’t recall any exact examples but they really made my eyes roll. I never went for that sort of manipulation, and I hope you didn’t either. But seriously, if you don’t forward this email to at least 10 people, your cat will melt. haha

I have had so many people tell me today that they heard about us from a friend that forwarded them an email. I think I mentioned this the other day but we got a huge order and when I spoke to the guy he said someone he worked with had sent him the email. He was in purchasing and needed a source. She was a customer of ours personally and sent him the email. So, it got me thinking … we don’t really know who comes from where. So yesterday we launched a feature on the signup page of the site that asks how you heard about us. “I plead the fifth” is an actual option for those that don’t kiss and tell. 18% heard our radio ad, 26% was Google, and 26% were from a friend telling them or forwarding them an email! (and the rest was “other”, “plead the fifth”, etc). That is just one day of data but it made me think – I have got to get you guys forwarding these emails to people!

If you do, say something nice – even if you have to lie (haha kidding. Sorta.). If you received this email as a forward and want to sign up, I added a link to the signup page at the very top of this email. And, if YOU don’t forward to 10 people you know, ……. your cat will melt.

4oz Liquid Hand Sanitizer arrived! It’s on the site and ready to order!

WE LAUNCHED our Desktop Hand Sanitizer dispenser! I am so excited about it. I tested it myself and even shot a video. We are going to get it on the product page and the CK YouTube channel and all that jazz but I wanted to let you see it NOW, so I just uploaded it unedited to my personal YouTube account. Take a look: https://youtu.be/a7uWVLoyYvE

Take a look at the dispenser here: https://www.cablesandkits.com/mc/dispensers/desktop/fam-282/fp-18819/

The 200 we have on order should arrive TODAY. I am ordering more and they should be here in the next week or so. Order as many as you want and we will get them out now or when the next batch arrives!

These are great for gel or liquid hand sanitizer. You can also use for soap. Put them anywhere you want convenient hand sanitizer! Put ‘em on the trunk, put ‘em on the hood. Put one up with the driver, it’ll make him feel good. (Let’s see who gets that reference without clicking the link! 3:00 mark)

Happy Thursday!

Roses are red, violets are blue, you’re asleep and I wish I was too. It’s 4:10am and I just finished working on this email. I’ve got to go to bed! So, I tried to keep this one short (and I think I failed).

I had a big day. I touched a lot of projects today. This doesn’t even begin to be half of it, just what I quickly remember

  • Nitrile gloves will be here in about a week (we have a FEW on the site now but at the end of next week or the beginning of the following we should have some. We have Vinyl in stock and more coming if those will work for you in the meantime.
  • I talked to a vendor about copper infused fabric washable face masks. Interesting. More to come.
  • We got our 1L bottles of gel hand sanitizer in today. This was a one time buy and when they are gone they are gone so get them fast!
  • I approved and ordered our desktop sanitizer dispenser yesterday! We should have that on the site soon for pre-order. I did a video about it too! Looking forward to getting that out.
  • I got dispenser pumps on order for our gallon and half gallon liquid sanitizer. I hope they will be here early week after next. I will make an announcement. Someone ordered 500,000 from me before I could even get them launched. That’s nice.
  • OH! I ALMOST FORGOT!! We got the Face Shields in today!! Plenty in stock and ready to ship!
  • I stayed up till 6am Tuesday night (Wed morning) working on getting thermometers on a plane from the factory. 800 thermometers … picked up by UPS CRITICAL, taken to the airport for next flight out, and it only cost a cool $10,000. What a bargain! 😲. I had a customer that needed 400 that I found out cancelled today. Sometimes you fall off the horse …. And sometimes it kicks you in the head. The good news is that when they land we will finally have stock (the rest of what we have ordered is still taking 50 forevers) and can ship plenty of orders! You can pre-order if you’d like to get in line for some of these.
  • I went to the warehouse today and while there someone jokingly said “remember when we used to sell networking products?” lol. We very much still do, but WOW have we been buried in safety products for several weeks now! It’s fun though.
  • I have gotten SO many emails from people thanking me for what we are doing and complimenting me on this email. What an honor! Before I started doing this email I was terrified to do such a thing. Now it’s natural and I am loving it. THANK you for reading the email and buying the products!
  • I talked to someone on the phone today that ordered a LARGE amount of Hand Sanitizer. I asked if he was on my daily email and he said that someone that worked there had forwarded him the email and that’s what led him to buy from us. Wow!! Thank you for forwarding my email to people you think might be interested! If they would like to be on the daily email they can sign up at the bottom of the safety supplies page.
  • Someone that serves at a food bank emailed to ask if I could use my manufacturing capabilities to help them get some reusable grocery bags made. Sounds awesome and I’m on it! I loooooove sourcing and manufacturing!
  • I am working on isolation gowns. Do you need them?
  • Don’t forget to go follow us on Facebook here: CK Facebook Page. We will be posting some videos and such there soon!

Safety Supplies Landing Page: https://www.cablesandkits.com/c/safety-supplies

Happy Wednesday!

Why is Wednesday spelled like that? Wed Nes Day? Winsday. I googled it just now. I NEVER thought about why the days are named the way they are. Quite interesting. Disclaimer: I clicked on a grand total of one link and read enough to be satisfied. Do your own research if you plan on using the knowledge for a game show. https://www.quora.com/Why-is-Wednesday-spelled-incorrectly

A quick notice / apology: If you have emailed me I promise you that I will reply, however my inbox runneth over at the moment. Máni’s days and Tīw’s days (That is a test to see if you’re clicking my links!) are full blown meeting days for me and I got to single digit quantities of emails today. To be honest, there were some weeks old emails in there already. Anyway, if you have emailed me or if you DO email me, I promise I will reply!

Also, due to the overwhelming response to the safety supplies as well as the radio ad that we are running, the phones are ringing off the hook and our customer service / sales folks are having a hard time keeping up. If you know what you need I encourage you to order on the web. If you need help, certainly try calling but if you don’t get through please try live chat or send an email to [email protected] and someone will get back with you. They are digging out of a hole too! In fact they have been reaching out to pull in former staff members part time to assist!

Speaking of part time staff members, we are talking about building a distributed sales force to help with drumming up leads and taking orders for the safety supplies we are offering. Ponder the ponderables – would you or someone you know be interested in a full incentive (soft word we use in place of commission) “work for yourself” / “make up your own hours” role calling potential leads and selling the products we are offering? We will do some basic training on the products (which isn’t that hard), the systems (entering orders), and get you a list of companies to call. You can and should also work your own contacts. If you’d be interested, let me know. We don’t have anything in place yet but we are trying to get it setup quickly so it won’t be long!

We made a few more videos last night and the night before. Hopefully we will get those out pretty soon! Don’t forget to go follow us on Facebook here: CK Facebook Page

Saxsquatch Video. Someone showed this to me today. It’s ….. hard not to watch!

Safety Supplies Landing Page:

Happy Tuesday!

I hope your Monday was one for the record books! Ours was. Our radio ad launched today and the phones and website melted. In fact, I heard that we had over 100 people go to voicemail when they called. Not good! I suppose it should have been expected but we were all so focused on the WEBSITE that we didn’t really think about what would happen with the phones. That is what happens when you have never done a radio ad before. So we are digging out of that!

I am making progress on 75% alcohol wipes. Let me know if that is of interest to you and what qty’s you would want/need. There are singles (one wipe per package), 10 per package, and a barrel/tub of 50 or 60 as options. There are other options out there but I decided to start there. Let me know your thoughts.

We stuck an impromptu video I did in my basement out on Facebook last week. It inspired me to do more, so I recorded a few with the help of Chad, our warehouse manager tonight. We will get those out soon and I will let you know about them. One was funny … I hope no one tells me “You can’t post that!” haha .. maybe I will override them if so. If you don’t follow us on FaceBook you should, and that’s where you will see these videos. I am sure we will put them on YouTube too, but FB is easy. Go follow us here: CablesAndKits Facebook

Mask Prices Reduced Again | New Hand Sanitizer Sizes | Our First Radio Ad |Manic Mondays | COVID Stats & News Update

It’s Monday!

This is the first thing I thought of when writing “Monday” … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsmVgoXDq2w.

I really do love 80’s music. They don’t make it like they used to!

I don’t see Monday’s the same as was talked about in this song. The truth is, I LOVE Mondays. I LOVE working and am always excited to see what the week holds. In fact, since I do a lot of sourcing overseas I start my work week Sunday night around 9pm (which is Monday morning 9am China time). In the “old days” (Pre-COVID-19) I would work till 11 or 12 and go to bed. Now, I work until at LEAST 2am, many nights till 3am, and some nights (like Sat night) till 6am. I slept 1 hour and was back up at 7 when my girls were pouncing on me saying “It’s Mother’s Day!”. Who needs sleep anyway. I guess I can sleep when I’m dead. But I digress …

On the upside, after trading sleep for opportunity, it seems like we are really headed into the health & safety supplies business. Costs, and therefore prices, are nuts right now, but demand is high and supply is low, so that’s creating a lot of business for us. The trick will be getting prices down as costs go down and supply and demand normalize, and through that, maintain customers long term. In fact, that is exactly how CablesAndKits was started. We launched at a time when pre-owned Cisco was in high supply and high demand after the dot com crash. That created the need for the accessories to go along with the hardware. I was in the right place at the right time and took advantage of the demand and created the supply. Then, over time as costs came down and competitors crept in, we were able to lower prices to stay relevant. We had our missteps but that’s another story you’ll hear about here and there. Have you found any opportunities in the midst of all the change we are in the middle of?
