The CK Daily – A Little North Georgia Magic

Good morning & happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

I enjoyed a little day trip into the North Georgia mountains over the weekend, which was really nice! Josh and I decided to head north on Saturday morning with no solid plan. We knew we wanted to hike and go tubing, but didn’t know exactly where. I have a book that lists hundreds of waterfalls in Georgia, so I paged through it on the drive and we settled on visiting Haven Falls (also known as His ’N Her Falls) in Habersham County. It wasn’t a long hike, but it led to a beautiful waterfall that almost gave the illusion of being two “twin” waterfalls due to the way the water splits into two distinct streams as it flows over the rocks at the top. It was really pretty!

After our hike, we headed further north to go tubing on the Toccoa River. The water was cold, but it was such a relaxing time! The weather was perfect, and it wasn’t too crowded, which made for a wonderful day on the river.

We ended our day in the mountains by grabbing dinner at a local Mexican restaurant before heading back. It was a good reminder that sometimes the best days are the unplanned ones. It was nice not having a real schedule—just being able to decide in the moment what we wanted to do. Good weather, good company, and a willingness to explore is a great recipe for a fun day! Wishing you all a week filled with a little bit of that same magic!

Learning Center Article – Why would you use shielded Ethernet Cables?

Currently, the use of high bandwidth applications has been on the rise, and network systems have started venturing into factory environments which have called for the use of shielded cables. In this new installation sector, the cable is used in areas with high electromagnetic interference (EMI). Even with improved ability to reject noise and handle gigabit Ethernet, these cables will not function properly in areas where there is high EMI if not properly shielded. A shielded cable will help in these high EMI installations ensuring safe and efficient data transfer.

The CK Daily – Staying Cool in the Summer Heat

Happy Monday!

Over the weekend we celebrated my father’s 69th birthday and enjoyed some delicious Korean fried chicken from my father’s favorite chicken restaurant 99k Chicken & Pizza. They have great pizza too, but the sweet spicy fried chicken is where it’s at. If you haven’t had Korean fried chicken, I definitely recommend it, it’s quite different from what you get at KFC!

If you haven’t already felt it, many of us are in a heat wave and I’m definitely tired of the heat! I love the summer sun, but hate the scorching temperatures that come with it. And we’re in for a heat wave! Luckily our local card shoppe has reliable air conditioning and is a welcome space to have fun during the week. We’re also lucky to have a great splash pad nearby to help our kids cool down and burn off some energy, without burning themselves out!

What are some ways you stay cool during the summer?

I hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful week!

Cris

Learning Center Article – Best Practices for Cable Management in Data Centers

Every network administrator in the world has a horror story about cable management. In data centers, those horror stories grow into genuine nightmares. If enough people work on a system for a long enough period of time, the cables will eventually turn into some type of Ethernet vine monster. Only strict adherence to cable management practices can prevent this disaster.

The CK Daily – What are you grateful for?

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone is having a great week. I’ll be honest, this week has been far from ideal. It’s one of those weeks/seasons where it feels like the blows never stop coming and it’s rather humbling at times. That said, here are 3 things I’m grateful for today:

  1. A venti brown sugar shaken espresso from Starbucks (with salted caramel cold foam on top).
  2. Progress on our new home! Not sure I’ve shared, but my husband and I bought a house recently and have been getting some work done, and things are coming along. So, it’s exciting!
  3. Grace. It’s been a tough week…and if I’m being really honest a tough couple of months. It’s a time where we get one things fixed and another thing happens, where you feel like you can’t keep up with anything and keep misplacing important things, and where something happens and you think “this is as bad as it can get” but then God humbles you and it gets worse. I type this and chuckle a little bit, but at the end of the day, I’m just grateful for grace.

What are you grateful for this week?

Ashley

The CK Daily – Father’s Day Feast to Birthday Treats

Good morning!

With all the talk about Father’s Day plans lately, I wanted to share mine too! Saturday was busy for me, so we saved our celebrations for Sunday. We went with a classic choice, Texas Roadhouse, and let me say that we definitely overdid it on the rolls and cinnamon butter. We kept the rest of the day simple and low-key, wrapping it up with pizza and Phineas and Ferb. It was the perfect way to close out the weekend and ease into the week ahead.

Now I’ve got another fun weekend to look forward to, June family birthdays! We’re heading to our grandparent’s house, which means a full spread of grilled ribs, steak, and chicken. Plus my favorite homemade treat, banana ice cream! Add some sprinkles and chocolate syrup, and I’m all set! I’m so excited to celebrate, eat, and spend time with everyone. Hopefully it doesn’t rain while we’re there!

Now…What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? My overall pick will always be mint oreo, and I’d love to hear yours!

The CK Daily – Simple Yet Extra-Special Day

Happy Wednesday, CK pals!

How was your weekend? Were you able to pull off any Father’s Day plans? I’d love to hear how you celebrated!

Ours was simple but definitely one for the books. On Saturday, my boyfriend and I cooked lunch—boiled pork with veggies and pork sisig. The weather was perfect, so we set up a table outside and enjoyed the meal together with my fam. Lots of catching up, especially since my boyfriend only comes home occasionally. My parents couldn’t resist teasing us with the usual “when are you getting married?” jokes—classic Filipino family banter! We’re actually planning for it, but not just yet. There’s still a house to finish and a wedding fund to build (because let’s be real—weddings aren’t cheap!). Later that night, after our laborers clocked out, my dad, boyfriend, and the crew shared some drinks and stories. Let’s just say the night ended with a few more laughs and a couple of tipsy goodbyes!

Come Sunday, everyone slept in. Instead of cooking again, we took Dad out for lunch—his first time at this particular restaurant. Then we visited a new spot nearby that gave total “Swiss countryside” vibes—seriously, the view was stunning! We spent the afternoon snapping photos and soaking in the sunset before heading home to wrap up the celebration with a cake and more family bonding.

It wasn’t grand or fancy, but it was heartfelt and full of good memories.

How about you? Did you try anything new or go somewhere special for Father’s Day? I’d love to hear your stories!

Have a great rest of the week!

Kat

The CK Daily – Heartfelt Moments

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend and got to enjoy some quality time with family.

I had my nieces over for the weekend, and—as always—it was a blast! I’ve bragged on the town I live in before, and I’m about to do it again. On Saturday, they hosted a local event called the Crepe Myrtle Festival, and we had such a great time! I met up with a friend and her kids, and we spent the afternoon strolling through the street fair, checking out vendors, grabbing food from the trucks, and enjoying the live music. They even had a full kids’ zone set up with rides and games, which helped keep the little ones happily entertained. It was such a fun experience—but wow, it was hot! By the time we left, the kids were completely wiped out (and honestly, I was too!).

On Sunday, we kept things more low-key and hosted a Father’s Day dinner at my house. We fired up the grill for some burgers and just spent the evening relaxing and being together as a family. It was a full weekend in the best way—one of those that leaves you tired but grateful.

Wishing everyone a great start to the week!
