CEO Daily Update – 1.12.2021

January 12, 2021 by Jason Gazaway

Today’s Topics: Pondering the Ponderables | OM4 40G Fiber | Sanitizer Dispensers | Different Types of Fiber | News to Start Your Day

Happy Tuesday!

January 12th is National Pharmacist Day! That is a group of people we can really be grateful for this past year! Thank you to all the Pharmacists out there!

At the beginning of each year, Craig and I try to take some time to ponder the ponderables (as he says). Pondering … life, work, family, faith, community, giving. We take note of things learned from the previous year, think about what we’d like the new year to look like, and we put things into action to achieve our goals.

This year Craig had been asked a question and he turned the question to me: if your debts were all paid, you had $10 million in the bank and 10 years to live, what would you do with your life? I had an immediate big picture kind of answer, but the question has also stuck with me. What are the nuisances of how I would live my life in those circumstances? The unspoken question here is: ok now what? What’s keeping you from living that way today? Certainly we wouldn’t all be able to live immediately as we fully would in a real life scenario like the one I described, but there are almost always ways to take steps towards your dreams and goals, towards your “best life” as they say.

So, I encourage you to take the time to “ponder the ponderables” by picturing a scenario where you’re free from some of life’s big burdens but have an urgency to live now. Life is short. We’re all going to be gone from this earth at some point. How do you want your life to be lived? What legacy do you want to leave behind? And most importantly, what steps can you take right now to make that happen?

Big thoughts for a random Tuesday, right? I hope today is a good one for you, friend.

Christin

CEO Daily Update – 1.11.2021

January 11, 2021 by Jason Gazaway

Today’s Topics: Star Wars? | New Product Line Announcement – Yealink | Shoe Covers Available | Understanding Wavelengths | News to Start Your Day

It’s Monday again…already…

January 11th is National Clean Off Your Desk Day…time to clean up all the mess that is on your home office desk that used to be on your office desk.

I’ve recently heard lots of hype about The Mandalorian on Disney+. Have you seen it? Love it or hate it? I haven’t watched it myself as I am not a huge sci-fi fan. (Don’t hate me.)

Craig has always been a fan of science fiction. Star Trek is one of his favorites, and he even made me watch all of Star Trek: The Next Generation many years ago. (It wasn’t awful.) Until recently neither one of us had seen any of the Star Wars movies. He really wants to watch the new Mandalorian series, but he felt like he needed an education first. His all-in solution: he and two friends are watching ALL the Star Wars movies together in his still-in-progress home theater room.

Watching all the Star Wars movies is quite a commitment. So far they’ve watched (in this order) Rogue One, Episode IV, Episode V, Episode VI, and Episodes I, II, III. (They usually watch 2-3 at a time). In a few weeks they’ll pick back up with VII, VIII, IX, then The Mandalorian series. The friends have seen most or all of the movies before, but they’re loving the theater setup and watching them in order binge(ish) style.

Are you a Star Wars fan? What do you think of their chosen order to watch?

Christin

Today’s Topics: The Christmas Story | Day 11’s Christmas Deal | PPE Restock Alert | What is Right – Part 3 | News to Start Your Day

Happy Tuesday!

December 22nd is National Cookie Exchange Day! Sounds good to me…I like chocolate chip cookies by the way.

In the last couple of days before Christmas, I wanted to share with you the Christmas story from the book of Luke, Chapter 2. The gospels all have an account of Jesus’ birth. Luke’s version is the one we hear most often.

Here is Luke 2:1-20

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

For those more into video presentations, here is an animation account of chapters 1 and 2: The Birth of Jesus – Gospel of Luke Ch. 1-2

Today’s Topics: Favorite Streaming Service? | Today’s Christmas Deal | Face Mask Friday | Important Dates & Info | News to Start Your Day

December 18th is National Ugly Sweater Day. Time to break out those crazy Christmas sweaters and show them off today.

Hello there, Jason here. I am filling in for Christin today.

I had an interesting discussion last night about TV shows and streaming services. It revolved around how shows/series/movies are moving towards network-based streaming channels and how could cable/satellite TV continue to function and be a viable choice for much longer. I mean, with the rise of Disney+ and its extreme success, it’s hard to knock that the method works. CBS All Access, ESPN+, and HBO Max are just a few of the channels that have helped change the landscape recently on how and what we watch. (Of course, including the movies and shows just available on Prime Video & Netflix.)

For me, I am thinking about “cutting the cord” and dumping my cable TV and just going with Disney+ (gotta watch The Mandalorian!), Prime Video, CBS All-Access, and FOX. I think that would cover most of my bases between local news, sports, shows, and movies. Seriously, with Disney+ alone and the shows, they are releasing over the next year or so, I should have enough to watch and keep up with for a long time. (I am a HUGE Star Wars and Marvel fan…if you are too, have you seen the list of shows???)

What’s your take on it? Have you cut the cord and, if so, what are your favorite streaming channels/apps? Maybe you will help convenience me to do it even sooner. haha!

Have a great Friday and an amazing weekend.

Until next week!

Jason

Today’s Topics: Snowball Fight! | Today’s Christmas Deal | Hand Sanitizer Accessories | CK Christmas Party | News to Start Your Day

Happy Thursday!

December 17th is National Maple Syrup Day! This calls for stacks of pancakes, waffles, french toast, or biscuits smothered in syrup! (Now I’m hungry!)

Have you seen indoor snowballs that have shown up on the market in the last few years? Walmart has them in store, Amazon has several options, and I’ve seen them at other retailers as well (Big Lots has a great price here). Our girls received some yesterday and had an absolute blast with them. So many laughs and giggles! They are soft but have a firmness factor like a real snowball. A set of them would make a fantastic gift that the whole family could enjoy. Christmas morning snowball fight, anyone!?
