December 23, 2020 by Jason Gazaway

Today’s Topics: Merry Christmas | The Final Christmas Deal | Say No to Fevers | 10 Days of Christmas Giving – Part 2 | News to Start Your Day

Well… it’s Wednesday!

December 23rd is Festivus! (Thanks to the show Seinfeld). So, air your grievances and showcase your feats of strength.

Merry Christmas Eve Eve, friends! Today is our last email for this week, but before we sign off for the holiday, I wanted to be sure to tell you all how much we appreciate you.

This year has been like no other for CK, for all of us really. We appreciate being able to serve some of you with technology and PPE products, and we also appreciate this connection point of the CEO Daily. Connecting with you all is one of our favorite things, and it has been a bright spot in a year full of ups and downs.

We want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. See you here again next week.

Blessings,

Christin

10 Days of Christmas Giving (Days 6-10), by Corey, our Marketing Manager

Below are the first 5 themed days or ideas to help inspire you to embrace and love in the holiday season this year.

Days 1 – 5 can be found here.

Light

The power of light is absolutely astonishing. Think about this…if you are in a pitch black cave, all you need to light up the entire cave is a small little candle. Even though darkness can seem so vast, a very minimal amount of light can make it go away in a second. Make it a point to bring light and goodness everywhere you go this season. If there is a negative or uncomfortable situation, do everything you can to make it positive and turn it towards the good. Bring light and share light with everyone you come into contact with like you’re contagious with it.

Show Light in one of, or all of these easy ways:

  1. Have you and your family write letters to the children at your local hospital with thoughts of healing, prayer, and pictures to brighten their days while they can’t be home with their loved ones.
  2. Bring your favorite holiday dessert into work at random one day or to your child’s teaching staff with a note of thankfulness and encouragement for the hard work they put in.
  3. Get a group of friends and family together to go spend a few hours with the elderly at a local home and sing Christmas Carols and listen to them tell their stories. Open yourself up to receiving wisdom and giving your full attention.

Giving

Let this be the essence of your holiday. Giving does not just include the physical act of giving presents. Giving is primarily centered around giving others your presence and your full attention. While giving thoughtful and meaningful gifts is a wonderful part of the holiday, make it a point to also give people your time. The holidays is usually a catch-up session with the family you don’t see most of the year which also makes for a great opportunity to become a better listener and give out encouragement.

Be Giving in one of, or all of these easy ways:

  1. Be the first to ask questions and actually care about people’s lives when you’re connecting over the holidays. It’s easy to talk about your own life, but make it a point to shift the spotlight to everyone else. Ask first. Care first. Shift the narrative and start the conversation.
  2. Put stocking stuffers in everyone’s stocking that is something small they will appreciate and love without putting your name on it. Maybe it’s their all-time favorite holiday candy, a movie they’ve been dying to see, or tickets to a concert they have been talking your ear off about for months. Try not taking the credit and giving without the satisfaction of them knowing it was you giving the totally awesome gift.
  3. Think of gifts that people will actually love. Try not to just settle and get the gift card for mom to go to Williams Sonoma but instead to think of an item she would love to receive for Christmas. Even as adults, it is still so much more awesome to open an actual wrapped present that you love.

Gratitude

As you enjoy the holiday season, one of the best things you can do is take time to reflect on all of the blessings in your life. If you have seen the classic holiday movie, White Christmas, you will be familiar with this quote:”When I’m worried and I can’t sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep. And I fall asleep, counting my blessings. When my bankroll is getting small, I think of when I had none at all. And I fall asleep, counting my blessings.” – Bing Crosby

Show Gratitude in one of, or all of these easy ways:

  1. Write a thank you note to a loved one, a service member, a teacher, or anyone in your life you are thankful for.
  2. Make it a point to say “thank you, I appreciate all you do” to the people you see daily, whether it is your friendly barista at your favorite coffee shop, the neighborhood policeman, the teller at your local bank, your every day mailman… extend an extra appreciation for the hard work and service they give every day.
  3. Send a $5 Venmo to a close friend or family member with a simple, “Thank you for being you! Here is coffee on me today! Treat yourself.” note added.

Compassion

Although the holiday season is filled with giving gifts to the ones we love, we also have the opportunity to give to strangers in need of compassion, love, and basic needs. The best way to get involved in our local communities is to find ways to serve them out of a heart of compassion.

Show Compassion in one of, or all of these easy ways:

  1. Volunteer at your local homeless or animal shelter to feed or take care of people & animals.
  2. Volunteer at your local library to read Christmas books to children and bring a bag of candy or baked goods to hand out.
  3. Hold the door open for everyone you can, let a car in front of you while in shopping traffic, or smile at a stranger.

Joy

One of the best things you can do with the ones you love during the holiday season is to cultivate joy! Make each day merry and bright and bring your community together.

Show Joy in one of, or all of these easy ways:

  1. Have everyone write out funny memories and have a night reminiscing and reading them.
  2. Play a fun game like “Catch Phrase” to get everyone involved and off their phones and focused on each other.
  3. Gather around the family piano (or Youtube on the TV) and sing Christmas Songs!
