The CK Daily – Feelings of Nostalgia
Happy Monday!
The weekend passed by like a blur! My oldest will be turning 8 soon and we’ve been planning and preparing for a birthday party at Skate Country a local skating rink. I find skating rinks fascinating as they seem to be timeless – like the music may have some changes, but the overall experience and feel remains the same. It’s also a multi-generational activity. For me it’s a bit nostalgic too and a reminder of the good old days (even though those good old days just change with each passing generation). Something about the smell of the concession stand, the blasting music, and the lights just transport me back to the 90s when my parents would drop me off at the skating rink and I’d just hang out with my friends and skate for a few hours.
I wonder if there are other experiences like that, like maybe walking into a bakery or something. What activities trigger your nostalgia?
I hope you guys have a great week!

Product Spotlights & Updates
The Cisco original 40G QSFP+ modules are some of the most popular on the market today and are comparable to their popular 10G counterpart, SFP-10G-SR. These 40GBase-SR4 modules are parallel optic transceivers that are ideal for short-range reaches. These transceivers utilize MPO/MTP connectors, operate on OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber (MMF), and use 850nm lasers. These modules utilize 8 of the 12 MPO/MTP fibers to transmit data over 4 duplex (4 sending and 4 receiving) parallel channels at a rate of 10Gbps/channel resulting in 40Gbps speeds. In addition, these modules can be used in a 4x10G mode which allows the module to be compatible with existing 10G transceivers. 40GBase-SR4 modules can reach lengths of up to 100m over OM3 and 150m over OM4 fiber cable.
Learning Center Article – PVC vs LSZH vs OFNP vs OFNR Cable Jackets
When comparing fiber optics cables, there are a lot of different components and considerations. One important component is the outer jacket of the cable. Outer jackets can be made from a number of materials, and generally speaking, the jacket materials can work with any fiber cable type. That means that choosing the right cable jacket is often independent of choosing the fiber setup.
