The CK Daily – Strange Side Effects
Happy Monday and hello again!
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks. So a funny thing (well not so funny) happened after I came home from vacation. We felt fine the first few days and then BAM! Rona decided to visit, and everyone felt pretty awful. I’m feeling tons better now, but when I first got it, it felt like I was hit by a freight train and then a bus. I also had a bit of a cough and runny nose (it felt kind of like the flu overall). My wife had the virus first and she felt more or less the same way. My 2-year-old had fever-like symptoms for 2 days and felt better immediately afterwards, but my 7-year-old has stayed strong and has not gotten it this whole time. 10 out of 10 I do not recommend getting this virus. Luckily we all just tested negative over the weekend and are on the mend.
While I feel better, I noticed that things started to taste off and I realized I lost my sense of smell and taste. Also, something very strange out of the ordeal with losing smell and taste is that water “tastes” weird. This may sound dumb, but water just tastes wet and everything else is just a texture experience. I tried a brownie and it ended up tasting like the consistency of playdough and chips taste like crunchies and a bit of salt (but absent potato flavor). I kind of “sense” when things are sweet or salty, but I can’t sense bitterness or other flavors, it’s the strangest thing and the saddest thing, because I love food! It’s been about 2 weeks and I’m starting to get some of the taste and smell senses back. Hopefully, this is just temporary! Have you experienced this as a side effect of Covid? Would love to hear your experience and how long it took (hopefully) to get your taste and smell back.

Product Spotlights & Updates
Our Cat6 Slim Ethernet Patch Cables are the perfect solution for high-density installations in data centers or any network setup where space is limited, without sacrificing the speed and durability that you are used to with regular-sized Cat 6 cabling.
The Snagless boot enables the installer to quickly connect and disconnect the cable in even the tightest situations. The smaller diameter cable makes it easier to handle cable management, making it more simple to install and troubleshoot the cables when needed and create better airflow in your data center or network closet.
Learning Center Article – Best Practices for Cable Management in Data Centers
Every network administrator in the world has a horror story about cable management. In data centers, those horror stories grow into genuine nightmares. If enough people work on a system for a long enough period of time, the cables will eventually turn into some type of Ethernet vine monster. Only strict adherence to cable management practices can prevent this disaster.
