Happy Tuesday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily email. Read more about this email by scrolling to the very bottom.

We had a great time with our friends at Great Wolf Lodge! It’s two hours from our house … if you have kids or grandkids I’d say it’s worth a couple hour drive to go!

On the way home I was able to pickup my motorhome from service being done on it. My wife dropped me off on the way home so I didn’t have to drive the TOAD (RV slang for tow vehicle) up there and pull it back. As I left the parking lot I was like MAN this thing is peppier! Then I realized I wasn’t towing the car – haha. Now to get ready for our FIRST family camping trip this Friday!

I’m mentally preparing tonight for the video shoot tomorrow. I’ve been an extra in a movie once before with a friend so I’ve seen first hand how many things go into filming something, but holy cow – there is a LOT going on to prep for this shoot tomorrow by the producer, director, and crew. They brought a wrecked car onsite today and got it on its side. That’s part of the story that’s being shot there tomorrow. I helped pull a few last minute things together for them which was fun. My grading contractor had a lot of fun beating up the car with his skid steer getting it on its side too 😉

Did I mention that I was asked to be in the video? I’ll be a guy that stops at a wreck but DOESN’T help and drives off. I’ll be honest – I’ve struggled with that!! I decided to take my glasses off and shave so it doesn’t look as much like me lol.

Thinking about all this has me daydreaming about a fun project I thought of years ago. I’m quick witted and find the humor in everything. I thought it would be a blast to have a YouTube show where me and other funny people sit and write out jokes for tv, movies, etc. The thought of the laughs that would come from finding the humor in any subject is exciting. All shows (Seinfeld, Saturday Night Live, etc) have writers that sit there and come up with the situations and material. I thought I’d call the show “how the sausage is made” lol.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard …

Happy Monday!

(“Darn Fool” Article further down)

I hope everyone had a great weekend. My wife and I are like tired mufflers – exhausted. We helped with the garage sale for our friends Friday and Saturday and those early mornings, long days, and physical activity we are not used to was a sudden change and took it out of us! But, we had a lot of fun, it was satisfying to help friends, and we got a lot done! So, we ourselves had a great weekend … even though I can barely walk haha.

Annnnd … yesterday we came to Great Wolf Lodge. We have some friends that we’ve made a near tradition of meeting here for one of our kid’s birthdays. It’s a hotel that is also an indoor water park. Pretty awesome actually!

On Friday I was driving down the road and saw a lady who was fishing a spare tire from her trunk. She obviously had a flat so I turned around and went to help. I changed her tire and got her on her way, but afterward I had a thought …. I don’t even change my own tires! If I have a flat on the side of the road I am pretty sure I would call roadside assistance. The last time I had a flat I had Run Flats and was able to drive all the way to the dealer to have them replace it.

The realization that I had about the tire, and the garage sale, is that it is sometimes easier for me to help other people than it is for me to do things that I need to do myself. Can you identify with that?

I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard …

Red Solo cups are a common souvenir to bring back from the United States. The novelty comes from the cups being used in many party scenes in movies.

Business Coaching | OSFP’s | Face Mask Sale | We Will Always Remember

Happy Friday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily email. Read more about this email by scrolling to the very bottom.

Today I had a call with a business coach I’ve worked with for a few years. We talk once a month for about an hour and cover whatever is on my mind. Today I had a topic I’d been pondering on for months and was stuck. He was able to ask some questions to get me talking and I came to a conclusion of what I wanted to do.

Coaches are great because once you have worked with them for a while, they know you fairly well, but at the same time they are not in your operation day to day so they can be objective.

You can engage with a coach/mentor or even a friend personally as well. Years ago a good friend of mine and I met every week for about a year. We spent some time talking about the movies we’d seen and all that, but then we got into “ok, so what’s going on?”. We’d speak our minds about our current issues and then get the thoughts of the other person, questions, and even if we didn’t come to a solution we’d be further down the road.

Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees (Dictionary.com: An expression used of someone who is too involved in the details of a problem to look at the situation as a whole). Having someone that has nothing to gain and nothing to lose by giving you their SOUND advice can be super duper valuable. Ponder those ponderables in your ponderer.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard …

Happy Thursday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily email. Read more about this email by scrolling to the very bottom.

What a strange day yesterday. It turns out the car I bought with the motorhome had a salvage / rebuilt title. The seller didn’t tell me that, and later said he didn’t know. I could swear I ran a carfax on the car. I absolutely ran one on the motorhome. Anyway, whatever, I got a good enough deal that it doesn’t really matter.  When I went to transfer the title and get a tag that’s when it came up and they won’t do it unless you have it inspected. So, this morning was inspection day. You’re to show up at a particular body shop at 8am and get a number. They take you one at a time and do the inspection. Never having done this before I had no idea what to expect. When I got there, there was hardly anywhere to park. When I got my number I was number 18.

My expectation was to be in and out of there in an hour. Wrong. I was there till 2pm and most of that was sitting or standing outside a fence waiting my turn to be let in. It’s a darn good thing we work remote and I had my laptop and can tether to my cell for WiFi. I was able to do all my work as usual, just from a different place.

I still haven’t determined what was supposedly wrong with the car for it to have a salvage title but they found nothing wrong in the inspection and no sign of previous damage. I’ll try to see if someone can tell me but who knows. I have the paperwork I need to get my title and tag and that’s all that matters at this point.

Act 2: Our house is on a small lake with great views and when we moved in I decided to list it on a site for movie / film locations. Basically, if someone were filming a movie or show and needed a lake view in a private setting they might find and want to rent my house for a few days or weeks. It might be cool and you make a little money doing it.

Well today I got an inquiry but not for the house – but for the driveway. They want to shoot a music video and there is a scene with a wrecked car and someone being rescued. How cool. I met the director at my house in the evening and then took him to some acreage we still own that’s for sale. On that property there is a driveway even longer than what’s at my house that is perfect for what he wants to do. They want to shoot next week! I’ll keep you updated!

I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard …

Clorox Wipes in Stock and on SALE | CAT8 Ethernet | We are hiring!

The CEO Daily – Clorox Wipes in Stock and on SALE!

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily email. Read more about this email by scrolling to the very bottom.

As you’ll see below, Joe has put Clorox Wipes on Sale. We have a bunch in stock and ready to ship!

As much as I love vacations and long weekends, I sure do love the first day back to work. Maybe that’s crazy. I really miss my people and interacting with them! I had several meetings today including our weekly management meeting and it’s always good to get back into the swing of things.

We are still looking for product marketers (see the bottom of this email), so if you or someone you know would be interested let us know! There may be some need to be on site occasionally but for the most part it’s a work from home position! We don’t care where you live.

Hard work pays off …. I keep an eye on the webcam I sourced several months ago and it is still selling really well. It’s nice to spend a lot of time on something and then see it pay off for months (and hopefully years). The reviews are stellar on it which is also rewarding. I still have a plan to source some other models – I just haven’t gotten to it yet. There is a 4K version I really want to get. I tested a few and the video quality is unbelievable. That being said, they are nearly $200 each so you pay for what you get like most things in life haha.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard …

In 1994, the company who had a patent on GIFs tried to charge a fee for using GIFS. The PNG was invented as an alternative, and the company backed down.

Today’s Product Spotlight from Rerun (AKA Rebecca):

Garage Sale Anyone? | CISCO2911/K9’s | Disinfecting Sprays | Made for Eternity

Happy Tuesday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily email. Read more about this email by scrolling to the very bottom.

Well hello there … I haven’t seen you since, well, last week! I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. Me and my family sure did.

As I said on Friday, I had just gotten home with a new-to-us motorhome and the kids were beside themselves. They immediately wanted to stay the night in it so I agreed for us to do that on Friday night. The wife said “y’all go ahead, I am going to enjoy the quiet house to myself”. I get it. Both girls stayed in their bunks all night which was a little shocking. Saturday night they wanted to stay again, so we did. Sunday night they wanted to stay again, so we did. Mama came down and hung out with us for a movie and then left us to it. We had a campfire, roasted marshmallows, snuggled in the recliner and watched TV together. It was great. We are already making memories and haven’t even left the yard yet!

We also went to Mike’s house (the friend with cancer) this weekend to help get ready for a garage sale. They moved a while back and still have a mountain of things that need to go. I’m pretty good at moving fast, sorting, organizing, and making sense of things, and worked as fast as Mike could think and make decisions, which isn’t slow … so I was pretty wore out! I really love that sort of productive exercise where you’re not just exercising for the sake of exercising (which I never do).

The garage sale is in Hoschton (GA) this weekend (Fri, Sat, and a little on Sun). If you are in the area and want to stop by, email me and I will give you the address!

I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard …

Until 2016, the “Happy Birthday” song was not for public use. Meaning, prior to 2016, the song was copyrighted and you had to pay a license to use it.

Today’s Product Spotlight from Rerun (AKA Rebecca):

Cisco 2911 Integrated Services Router, CISCO2911/K9

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend and got to enjoy good food and time with friends and family! To ease us back into the workweek, I figured we’d start the week of product spotlights with a sale!

Today we are featuring the Cisco 2911 Integrated Services Router, CISCO2911/K9. This Integrated Services Router features embedded hardware encryption acceleration, voice and video-capable digital signal processor (DSP) slots, optional firewall, intrusion prevention, call processing, voicemail, and application services.

Here’s a rundown of the interfaces on the ISR:
