The tradition traces back to 1621, when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans shared a harvest feast after a challenging year of survival and cooperation. It was a gesture of unity and gratitude for a successful harvest.
Fast forward to 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national holiday, inviting Americans to set aside the last Thursday of November as a time to give thanks and reflect. Today, Thanksgiving remains a cherished time for family, friends, and feasting, an opportunity to appreciate life’s blessings, big and small.
