Clorox Wipes

CEO Daily Updates – 7.30.2020

Moving to a new computer |Clorox Wipes in Stock | A prayer request

Happy Thursday!

We are a mere one day away from the glorious weekend! Do you have anything interesting planned?

My new Macbook Pro: Moving to a new computer

I bought a new Macbook Pro last week to replace the one I had. It was having some funky issues and I DO NOT play when it comes to my computer having issues. I will allow a tad bit of troubleshooting but if that doesn’t solve the issue completely, I am buying a new one. I do not ever reformat the one I have … I buy a new one, get completely up and running, and then format and sell the old one, or pass is to someone else in the company that is due for a refresh.

I have learned the hard way that when you format the computer you are using you are just asking for trouble. I have had issues that kept me down for a couple days, I have lost data because I didn’t remember everything I needed to move over, etc. Then you are without a computer “until”. Nope. I buy the new one, start getting things working on it as I have time, and when I am completely done, I give myself several days or a week to make sure I don’t realize something I am missing from the old one before I wipe it.

During this switch over it took me two days to realize I didn’t move my email signatures over from the old Outlook to the new one. You would think that using Office365 would cause those to move automatically, but alas, the work is mine. I have 11 email accounts each with their own signature. Fortunately my old machine isn’t wiped yet. 😉

My last Macbook Pro was the 13″ and I really loved it. Small, powerful, and super portable. This time, I was on the fence but at the suggestion of my IT guy I went for the 16″. It is more powerful than the new 13″ and of course has a bigger screen. I was nervous when it was on the way – I really didn’t know if I would like the bigger screen / bigger form factor. I was a little shocked when I opened the screen but in just a short while I was thinking “OMG – this is amazing”. It removes any desire I might have had for using a monitor, and it fits in my same laptop bag so the only thing that changed was the weight. And I am not joking – I had a book that stayed in my bag that I never read. I removed it and now the bag is back to what I am used to.

I didn’t intend to do a 16″ Macbook Pro product review in this email but it sorta feels like I did – ha!

Restful Weekend, Ministry of Business, New lower pricing

Happy Monday!

Wheew! I feel better! When I hit send on my email Thursday night (to be sent Friday morning) I shut the laptop and didn’t open it until just now (it’s Sunday night about 11pm). It was my oldest daughter Caroline’s 7th birthday today (Sunday) and we made a long weekend out of it. We had my wife’s parents in town, as well as some good friends. We spent the weekend by the pool, grilling out, eating at Caroline’s favorite restaurant, and going for putt putt. It was strange to not work at all but was very much needed. After the friends left it occurred to me that we barely “talked shop”, which is unusual. I think I was in overload shutdown mode haha.

I just caught up on emails and was so blessed by the ones I received. I asked last week for your experiences with returning to normal, and the replies were varied and great to hear. I loved how one person pointed out that the return of big yellow school buses on the road is a signal to the public that “things are ok”, and the importance of them doing their part to make that happen. Wow, how cool. I said that I agreed it was partly the buses being on the road, and partly Waffle House being open haha. Someone else pointed out that he is near retirement and is considering taking the coronavirus changes as a push to buy an RV, hit the road, and see some sites!

I have also had people that have told me that my emails have, in some way, impacted their walk with the Lord, encouraged them to spend time reading the Lord’s word, praying, growing, and being more bold in their faith. Here is what I most recently replied with ….

It has taken a number of years to get to the point where I could email out like I do openly about faith. The journey began in 2010 with another business guy taking an interest in me, sharing his journey, and inviting me and my wife to a ministry through business conference. SURRENDER was a huge part of it which happened just a few months prior. From there it has been a matter of walking in the light that I have, staying in the Word (which isn’t always consistent!), and being obedient to what the Lord puts in front of me. With the emails I am sending out, an opportunity to send them appeared and I took it. Then the Lord opened the door one day for me to start saying some things, and it’s gone from there. I never do more than I feel I am supposed to, and I attempt to never do less – which is the obedience part.

Jojo Update. Clorox Wipes In Stock. Great Deal on 8oz Gel Sanitizer

Thank the Good Lord it’s Friday

Father, thank you for this this week, and thank you for the weekend that is upon us. Thank you for the many blessings of this week, including the small things we take for granted like the air we breathe, and our pumping heart! There are so many complexities to the bodies that we live in that we take for granted – but you know the count of every hair on our heads, and care about each of us deeply – whether we know or believe it or not! Thank you for your provision. Thank you for our customers, and for our staff, and for the joy of the work of our hands.

Thank you for the challenges of the week – those that either caused us to learn and grow, or caused us to realize our dependence on you for your provision, protection, correction, or guidance.

Father I continue to lift little Jojo up to you. Thank you for your grace and mercy in her healing and progress so far! Please continue to heal and to bring rest to the parents and family.

Guide our minds, indwell our hearts, teach us your ways, and through us may you bless others.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Jojo Update: (From the great aunt)

My nephew Blake sent me the following update today:

His wife Chelsea should be discharged next week.
Josephine is no longer the sickest baby but will be in the NICU for a few months.
She has a chest tube drain to remove excess air from her chest cavity.
She has the loop drain for her bowels and getting IV Supplements with the hope the perforation will repair itself.
She is on a ventilator as expected and went from 100% down to 41%.
She opened one eye a hair he said. She went from 10 IVs drugs down to 3.
She is progressing slowly. She weighed 1 lb 12.6oz at birth and is 1 lb 7.8oz today. The weight loss is expected and she is in line with her birth size and gestation.

Blake said: “We appreciate all the prayers everyone is providing, there’s no possible way to express our true thanks to those willing to lift their names up in prayer.”

He also said I could share a picture. We think it would help with the prayer connections.

Please continue to keep Jojo and family in your prayers!!

  • Over 3,855,000 people worldwide have recovered and over 817,000 people in the US have recovered!
  • The United States has surpassed 2 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus, according to data tracked by The Washington Post, by far the highest reported total in the world, less than five months after the first reports that the virus had reached American soil. More than 7.4 million cases and 416,000 deaths have been reported worldwide, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
  • SeaWorld has reopened to the public, the latest Orlando theme park to welcome customers even as the number of new cases of covid-19 are rising in Florida and other states in the South.
  • The federal response to the coronavirus outbreak is pushing the U.S. government’s budget deficit to unprecedented levels. On Wednesday, the Treasury Department said the gap between what the U.S. government spends and what it collects in taxes widened to $1.88 trillion for the first eight months of this fiscal year — an all-time high. The federal deficit for all of 2019 was $984 billion, which was already considered unusually large.
  • Another 1.5 million people applied for unemployment insurance for the first time last week, adding to the tens of millions of people who have applied for the benefits since the pandemic began and continuing a months-long drop in the number of initial claims.
  • A shortage of brewer’s yeast amid the coronavirus pandemic has forced Marmite manufacturers to halt production of large jars of the famous sticky spread. Known for its unique taste and “love it or hate it” slogan, the brown food product, which is often spread on toast, is made from concentrated yeast extract — a byproduct of brewing beer.
  • NASA awarded Pittsburgh-based space robotics startup Astrobotic with nearly $200 million on Thursday for a key lunar mission, which will hunt for deposits of frozen water the moon. Astrobotic will be responsible for launching the rover, called VIPER, and landing it near the moon’s south pole in late 2023.
  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said on Thursday that it ordered Amazon.com Inc and eBay Inc to stop selling a wide range of pesticide products on their platforms, including those that are falsely marketed as being effective against the novel coronavirus. The EPA said the products on its list are unregistered, misbranded, or restricted-use pesticides, and pesticide devices that pose a significant health risk to consumers, children, pets and others exposed to them.

CEO Daily Update – 6.5.2020

3M N95 Masks, Disinfectant Wipes, Nitrile Gloves & Webcams

Thank the Good LORD it’s Friday!

Father in heaven, I thank you for this week. One of fruitful work, of meals with family, of television and small indulgences. Thank you for the chocolate that I have eaten too much of. Thank you for putting such small but enjoyable things on this earth (the cocoa bean), and for giving humans the ability to figure out how to make something of it. Lord I thank you for the weekend when many of us get to slow down and rest a little. Bless those that don’t get to rest, and help them find rest in You.

Please bless our country. Comfort those mourning and give courage to us all to fight for what is right, to seek to learn and to seek to understand. Give us a gentle nature toward one another, and to honor you in doing so.

In Jesus’ name I pray and ask these things. Amen.

A little Fellershipping
We have some friends coming up today to stay the night and we are all excited (they also have two small kids). We don’t get to see them as much as we used to so it is a treat when we get to spend time together. One good thing about visitors is it forces me to stop working – at least for a while. I am looking forward to that as well!

Stock Status
Hey take a look at the video of me on the safety supplies page! (What’s in stock blue button) People ask all the time about stock quantities so we did a video to talk about it. You’ll see a WHOLE lot of face masks!  https://www.cablesandkits.com/c/safety-supplies

Referrals, Price Gouging, Nitrile Gloves, Clorox Wipes, & N95 Masks

Happy Thursday!

WHAT – A – DAY
. We have a monthly Sales and Marketing meeting that goes all day. It was a tiring meeting when we used to do it in person, but now that it is all video it’s even more exhausting. Over 8 hours on video with several other leaders discussing our product lines, and our sales and marketing efforts. I love the meeting, but after 3 hours sleep the night before it was tough. But it is so great to take the time to work ON the business and not just IN it. I encourage you to find the areas of your business that need you to step out/away/back and give it some thought and consideration. If you don’t have some sort of plan, any move is the right move.

Price Gouging – We launched Clorox wipes yesterday and today I received 5-6 emails accusing us of price gouging. Ouch! That’s a first. I tried to explain in yesterday’s email but here goes again … These wipes are “normally” $5-8 per canister in stores. Normally. Like when they have them and the world is not buying every one they can find and picking the shelves clean. Things are not “normal” right now. We are not a Clorox “partner”, and even if we were we would not be getting any inventory, or would be getting very little. The only option we have to buy and sell these wipes is when some enterprising entrepreneur calls us up and says “I own 20,000 of these. I want X dollars. Do you want them?”. I either say yes, and have them available for you at a higher price, or I say no, and don’t. Just because the price is high does not mean we are price gouging. It means that our cost is sky high which is driving up the price. Let me be clear, we are going to make money on every item we sell or we are not going to sell it (donations aside). So we bought some at a high cost, marked them up a reasonable percentage (that is LESS than our standard margin on technology items), and offered them. Just because that price is higher than usual doesn’t mean that we are price gouging. Please hear me! I am absolutely here to serve you.

All that being said, due to the volume of sales today I was able to increase our order quantity significantly and get the cost down, and in turn, get the price down. We want to make money doing business (else why would we do it), but we are going to try to save you money at the same time! In general, if our cost goes down, the price follows. If you have ANY questions, please reach out to me!

Clorox Wipes, N95 Masks, New Floor Dispensers, and Business/COVID Updates

Happy Wednesday!

It was a big day yesterday! Lots of product updates (above), and lots of interesting and enlightening conversations (below).

First, about the product updates – As you will see above, we are launching Clorox sanitizing wipes, N95 masks, and Floor Stand Sanitizer dispensers all in the same day. Wheew!! I want to explain a little about how “this works” when it comes to things like Clorox wipes and N95 masks. There is no reliable supply chain for these things right now. I describe what it’s like out there as the Wild Wild West. Market price is literally defined by what someone is willing to sell something for, and what someone else is willing to pay. There are no rules, and you act fast or you miss the opportunity. On certain items like hand sanitizer dispensers or bottle pumps, I get those manufactured and we have some control. With things like Clorox wipes or N95 masks, it is a no holds barred sourcing showdown. I have been offered pallets of gloves before, and took 8 minutes to make up my mind, and by the time I did they were SOLD. It was a LOT of gloves. I was sick. So, things like Clorox wipes or N95 masks are like that. Someone offers them to me, and I either grab them or I don’t.

I am going to explain what you will see on the site for those items. For the Clorox wipes in the bag, the “on order” qty is on the way to us. Every time someone enters an order, that qty goes down. So in general, what you see on order should be available for you to buy. For the Clorox wipes in the canister, I have committed to about 2000 canisters, but there are a total of roughly 20,000 available. What you see on the site is the amount remaining from the 20,000 available. As soon as I send this email and orders start coming in I will gauge how many to buy and lock the PO in. So, that is why I am saying ORDER FAST if you want them. For the N95 masks it’s similar. We have a vendor that has them available and I have written a PO for the full qty and will edit it as necessary once we see the demand.
