CK Daily – 06.10.2024

June 10, 2024 by CablesAndKits

Happy Monday! Did you miss us?! We took a little break last week to allow our team some time to rejuvenate but we’re back. Cheers to a great week ahead!

The CK Daily – The Start of a Great Summer Ahead

Happy Monday!

It’s been a while since I’ve shared an update and a lot has happened. The week of Memorial Day we went to St. Augustine, Florida to spend some much needed R&R and to kick off the summer. The Saturday before we had left for our trip I participated in a Pokemon league cup and was able to pull off a 4th place finish, which is far better than the 2nd to last place finishes I’ve found myself in the past tournaments.

We booked a hotel on St. Augustine Beach, which was about 15 minutes away from the downtown area. The beach was quite nice, not crowded at all and we spent most of our vacation either at the pool or on the beach. We also visited the Castillo De San Marcos (a fort built in the late 1600s) and that was a highlight of the trip for my daughter who has a love for historical things.

I enjoyed the St. Augustine Alligator farm, but not because of the Alligators. What they should highlight more is that it is a massive migratory bird rookery/nesting area. We saw Great egrets, wood storks, roseate spoonbills, snowy egrets, and all manner of other birds. I took some photos that I’ll share next week.

We took the week after our vacation to recover and then went to a small family reunion over the weekend, where some of my wife’s family from Montana came to visit. It’s definitely been a great start to the Summer.

Hope to have some more adventures soon. I hope you have a great day and a great week!

Cris

Happy Friday! We hope you have a great weekend! Have any plans? We’d love to hear about them.

The CK Daily – Summer Travel ☀️

Happy Friday, folks! There is a saying that days go by slowly, and years go by fast. I realize how true that is at specific points of the year, such as the end of a school year.

Our oldest teenager is finishing 10th grade, and the other is finishing 7th grade. This week and next are full of finals and other end-of-school-year festivities. It’s exciting to see another school year close, which means summer is just around the corner!

What’s odd this year is we have yet to make any family summer plans. We’ve thought about a bunch of ideas for a family trip, but we are still looking for something. Do you have family plans to travel this summer? Send some ideas my way! Have a great weekend!

The CK Daily – Any Wordle fans out there?

Happy Wednesday!

Any Wordle fans out there? Recently, (more like just last night) I downloaded the New York Times game app and played Wordle and Connections. I’ve played these before, but never on my own. It was fun! My husband plays these two games everyday, so I thought I’d join in and give it a try. It’s always nice to give my brain a little challenge.

Right before we welcomed our little one into the world, my husband signed up for Duolingo and has been doing a lesson every day since then to refresh his Spanish. My great-grandmother used to do the crossword puzzle in the newspaper every morning and my mom used to complete a daily Suduko puzzle! Do you have something you do daily like this?

Have a good week!

The CK Daily – Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Friday! I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to a long weekend. I’m excited to spend time with friends and family around the pool and grill some meat (maybe multiple types of meat, haha). As we can enjoy this long weekend, I encourage us not to forget why we’re celebrating this week. I’m thankful to those we honor on this Memorial Day weekend!

I think back to a story in the book of Joshua. After the Israelites crossed the Jordan River, God instructed them to set up a memorial using 12 stones declaring the mighty works of God. Memorials are a powerful reminder of where we came from for future generations!

What is a way that you remember a milestone in your life?

Have a great weekend!

In a world of computers, everything is digital, and when you get down to it, that means everything is expressed in 1s and 0s.

In order for computers to keep track of all of the 1s and 0s, they group and organize information. They do this for calculating things on a computer, storing pictures on a flash drive, and even liking posts on social media. As for that grouping, it involves bits and bytes, so let’s take a minute to learn all about these important units.
