CK Daily – 07.15.2025

July 15, 2025 by CablesAndKits

It’s Tuesday, everyone! Today is Social Media Giving Day—a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can go a long way online. Whether it’s sharing something uplifting or leaving a kind comment, positivity is contagious. What’s the most unforgettable post you’ve seen online lately?

In This Issue: Powered by Sunshine & Coffee | Deal of the Day | Computer Tool Kit | SFP Modules | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Powered by Sunshine & Coffee

Hi CK Family! I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer!

Summer always seems to bring additional productivity time for my work schedule, no school drop-offs and pick-ups, no frantic morning scrambles and after school activities. I always love the slower rhythm that somehow makes the day more ‘doable’ as we like to say at CK!

Somehow, we’ve reached the part of summer where Target has school supplies out which is totally giving me the end-of-summer scares. Life will soon feel like an Olympic level multitasking event but watching my kids grow and flourish while balancing work is a super-power I am honored to have. Let’s do this! (With coffee of course.)

Wishing you a wonderful rest of your summer filled with sunshine and laughter!

Mandy

Today’s News to Start Your Day:

  • Meta has removed around 10 million fake Facebook profiles impersonating content creators in the first half of 2025. The company also took action against 500,000 accounts for spammy behavior, limiting their reach and ability to monetize. Meta says it’s stepping up efforts to reduce unoriginal and duplicate content to improve the user experience and better support original creators.
  • The FCC has officially approved T-Mobile’s $4.9 billion acquisition of US Cellular’s wireless business, bringing 4.5 million customers, retail stores, and 30% of its spectrum under T-Mobile’s umbrella. US Cellular will retain its 4,400 towers. In a separate deal, the FCC also approved T-Mobile’s joint venture with KKR to acquire fiber provider Metronet, expanding its broadband reach to 6.5 million homes by 2030.
  • Target has capped self-checkout use to 10 items or fewer in many stores to combat rising theft, but with few staffed lanes, the result has been longer lines and customer frustration. While retailers push self-checkout as a convenience, it’s largely a cost-saving measure—one that’s backfiring due to both intentional and accidental theft.
  • Chick-fil-A customers nationwide can now earn free menu items by playing the new Code Moo game via the Chick-fil-A app. Each week, players complete digital missions to unlock rewards like waffle fries, cookies, or chicken nuggets. The promotion is part of a growing trend among fast-food chains using gamified mobile experiences to boost engagement and loyalty during the busy summer season.

Happy Monday! It’s National Mac and Cheese Day—comfort food at its finest. What’s your go-to meal to kick off a busy week?

The CK Daily – Countdowns & Celebrations

Happy Monday!

This weekend was a mix of productivity and fun. On Friday and part of Saturday, we knocked out some much-needed house cleaning and started gathering school supplies. It’s hard to believe that school starts back up in just three short weeks. Summer always seems to fly by!

Saturday afternoon I caught the new Superman movie with a few friends, and I’ve got to say—I loved it. James Gunn brought his usual mix of humor and action, and I think it really worked. David Corenswet did a great job as Superman and Nicholas Hoult made for a memorable Lex Luthor. This one might go down as one of my favorite Superman films.

Sunday was all about birthday fun. We went to my daughter’s friend’s birthday party at a local waterpark. The kids had a blast running around the splash pad, but I spent most of the time trying to stay out of the sun. It was a scorcher! I’m already counting down the days until fall.

I hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful week!

Wireless networking is at the heart of so many things in the modern world, and if you need to maintain a reliable wireless network, then you need the right tools for the job. That can involve a lot of research, but you can narrow things down quickly when you know more about how wireless communication works. These days, MIMO is the most common technique for wireless communication, and when you know what it’s doing and how to compare different types of MIMO, you can browse equipment and find what you need a lot faster.

The CK Daily – Grateful for Another Year

Happy Friday!

This week has been another WILD week, but we shall prevail. Yesterday was my aunt’s birthday. The aunt whom I asked for prayers for leading into the beginning of the year and late January who had her 5th major open heart surgery. The surgery and recovery that I still get emotional thinking about, because it was truly a miracle and a gift from the Lord. So needless to say, celebrating her was a big deal to me!

It was another trip around the sun, that honestly, I think everyone in my family questioned at some point in this journey to figuring out what everything as going to look like for her. I get tears in my eyes even still reflecting back on it all. But glory to god!! We get to make memories, watch her thrive in being able to do things without so much struggle, and celebrate trips around the sun.

I’m so grateful!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Learning Center Article – What Is BIMMF?

Designing and deploying fiber optic networks is always a challenge. No matter the plan, you will need unique design elements and customized solutions for some of your problems. Interestingly enough, one of the most common issues with fiber optics is figuring out how to get the cables to run the path that you want and still perform well. Fiber optic lines are notoriously bad at handling bends and corners. One of your best options is to invest in BIMMF cables.

Almost there—it’s Thursday! Whether it’s a walk, a snack, or your favorite drink, what helps you power through?

In This Issue: Cruisin’ through the 4th | Deal of the Day | Replacement Blade for 66/110 Punch Down Tool | Causes of Fiber Optic Failure | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – Cruisin’ through the 4th

Good morning!

What a week! On Saturday, I got off the most amazing cruise and I was riding that post-vacation high for as long as I could! We made stops in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Castaway Cay, and each day was packed with something exciting.

In Cozumel, we went to a lucha libre wrestling show, which was just as wild and entertaining as it sounds. Then we kayaked through the Mangroves in Grand Cayman and got some delicious gelato as a treat. Our last excursion was exploring some interesting caves in Jamaica.
Our last stop was Castaway Cay, and it ended up being the perfect last day of the cruise. My boyfriend and I kicked it off like we always do, by running the Castaway Cay 5K on the island. It was super hot while we ran but we got to change quick and jump in the water to cool off before spending the rest of the day lounging on the beach.

The best part was that we went over Fourth of July week! It still felt like a party in the USA, even though we were technically in international waters. We got all dressed up for dinner that night and then watched the fireworks show on the top deck. Disney Cruise Line is one of the few (if not the only) cruise lines that is allowed to shoot fireworks at sea, and we got to see two shows while onboard! It was so special to see them both, especially on the holiday.

It was such a special week with my boyfriend and his family. I’m so grateful for trips like this, where I relax with them and run around every day! I’m glad to be back to routine and work but I can’t wait until my next adventure!

Happy Wednesday! Midweek check-in! It’s National Sugar Cookie Day—how’s your week going so far? Here’s your reminder to treat yourself to something sweet.

In This Issue: We Celebrate as One | Deal of the Day | RJ45 Cat6A Modular Plug | Throughput vs DRAM and Flash Specs | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – We Celebrate as One

It’s mid-week, everyone! I hope you’re all feeling productive and recharged after the long weekend.

Speaking of the 4th of July—while we don’t usually celebrate it as a public holiday here in the Philippines, ever since I started working remotely, my family and I have learned to appreciate it. It’s become one of those holidays that gives us either a long weekend or an extra day to rest and be with family, without having to think about work.

During last week’s break, I got the chance to travel with my boyfriend for his birthday. I also spent some time helping my mom at home since we’re nearly done setting up her small convenience store and finishing the fence construction. It makes me so happy to see everything slowly coming together. I’m always and forever grateful to Papa God for His blessings—and to CablesAndKits for giving me the opportunity to earn and make these dreams possible. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every step.

Let’s keep spreading good vibes and gratefulness every day. 💛

How about you—what’s your win this week? Big or small, I’d love to celebrate with you!

When it comes to designing and managing networks, there is an endless challenge of trying to improve performance. Inevitably, that includes upgrading and replacing hardware. When you research hardware for upgrades and replacements, you’ll see a lot of different tech specs listed in the descriptions. Two common terms that come up are throughput and bandwidth. You’ll see bandwidth more in advertising spaces, and you’ll see throughput more when you look up real-world tests of the hardware.

Happy Tuesday! Summer heat check! It’s National Freezer Pop Day—don’t forget to cool down. What’s your favorite way to beat the heat at work?

In This Issue: 4th of July, Florida Style | Deal of the Day | BNC Male Crimp-on Connector | Autonomous vs Lightweight Access Points | News to Start Your Day

The CK Daily – 4th of July, Florida Style

Good morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend!

I spent the 4th of July down in Florida, and it was quite the experience! I stayed with friends in the Watercolor area, and they have one of the rare permits that allows them to drive their Jeep onto the beach. These permits are super limited and given out via a lottery system—so naturally, everyone who has one wants to use it on the 4th.

My friends actually took the Jeep out at 3:30 AM to grab a good spot, then came back for a little more sleep before we all headed to the Grayton parade at 8:30 AM. It was the longest parade I’ve ever seen! It actually lasted for well over an hour! It really is such a fun, community-filled event.

After the parade, we made our way to the beach where the Jeep was parked and spent the afternoon soaking up the sun. I have NEVER seen that many people on a beach before! It was absolutely packed! Once we’d had our fill of sun, we headed back to clean up, eat, and then biked to a different beach later in the evening to catch the fireworks.

The rest of the weekend was much more low-key—lots of good food, long walks, pool time, and even catching up with some other friends from home who happened to be vacationing nearby. It turned out to be a wonderful weekend!

When you design a wireless network, you need to have all of your options available from the beginning. When you know what choices exist, you can select from them and make the best network possible. In that spirit, it can help to understand the primary difference in types of access points. For the most part, a wireless access point can be autonomous or lightweight.
