Holiday Traditions | Sanitizer Packs | Cisco GLC-T | 7 Leadership Steps to Keep Your Promises | News to Start Your Day

Happy Tuesday!

(December 1st is National Christmas Lights Day…so if you haven’t put up your Christmas lights yet, today might be a good day to do so!)

December 2020. Can you believe it is here? What a wild ride this year has been.

I have to admit that I am actually feeling more relaxed than usual at the holidays this year. Usually I feel a ton of pressure to go to all the events, do all the extra Christmassy things, buy all the gifts, and decorate like we live in a Hallmark movie… all with a big smile and cup full of holiday cheer in my hand. But this year simplicity is in the air, and I cannot wait to sit by the fire in a room lit by twinkling lights and enjoy my family.

Craig and I try to take the last week of the year off, and it is one of my favorite weeks. The kids are entertained with new this or that (and we actually have time to play with them for as long as we want), we sleep in, we play games together and eat Christmas leftovers (and sometimes do some fun baking). On New Year’s Eve we have appetizers for dinner and on New Year’s Day I make a traditional southern New Year’s meal. My favorite part about the week is that we’re all home together, there’s not as much pressure to go and do anything (unless we want to), and there’s a sense of excitement just around the corner about the plans we’ve made for the new year.

I would love to hear about some of your end of year, Christmas, or New Year’s traditions. What is your favorite one? Will it look the same or different for you this year?

Welcome, December. I am glad to see you, old friend.

Christin

Today’s Product Updates:

Happy Tuesday! I don’t know about you, but I am hitting that point where I’m starting to run out of hand sanitizer! I stocked up earlier in the year (call me a hoarder if you want, but I didn’t want to be without it!) so now I’m restocking to get through the winter months! If you’re in the same boat, remember that we have some AWESOME deals going for hand sanitizer! I’ve been looking every time I go to the store and I haven’t found any better deals than what we are offering here at CK! Stock up now, and be sure to pass the word along to friends, family, coworkers, or anyone you know who is looking to restock!

Most Busiest Time of The Year | Dispensers Sale | Fiber Optics Sale | Cyber Monday Deals | News to Start Your Day

Happy Monday!

(November 30th has several interesting celebrations, the main one being Cyber Monday this year, but it is also “Stay Home Because You Are Well” Day…sounds like a good plan for a Monday. Stay home and shop!)

Happy Monday after Thanksgiving everyone!

I hope you and your families had an amazing weekend (social distancing, of course) celebrating each other and what you are thankful for. It has been a rough year for all of us, and some more than others. BUT, we do have a lot to be thankful for as we reflect and head into Christmas and the end of the year. It can get a bit crazy this time of year. After all…

This is “the most busiest time of the year!”

Wait…that’s not how the song goes, is it? Of course not! Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, but the truth of the matter is that it probably is the busiest time as well.

Every year, all of us make a promise to ourselves that we are going to simplify, slow down, and focus on the “right things” this time of year (probably more this year than any other), but every year we seem to pile on more. — More and more Christmas shopping, one more dinner with friends (social distanced, of course), and one more mad-dash shopping spree to get your kids the new PS5, The Child stuffed animal from the Mandalorian, the Pets Alive Fifi the Flossing Sloth (Yes…this is seriously a popular toy for this Christmas), or that new set of Legos that will cause a new level of pain when you step on them in the middle of the night. Oh, and of course, these things are piled on your already busy day that is filled with business zoom meetings, kids’ virtual learning projects, and Christmas recitals that are still going on…not to mention dinner hasn’t been cooked yet and the dog needs to be taken for a walk.

If you are like me, just reading that stresses me out. I sit back and think to myself, “How in the world am I going to get everything done that I need to get done before Christmas, more or less today!”

With all the craziness of 2020, maybe this would be a good year to take a step back, take a deep breath, and keep things as simple as possible. Find some areas to slow down and just do it. It is OK. This of all years, be sure to take time to enjoy the “moment” of the holidays, focus on the true meaning of Christmas, and spend time with your family. Maybe plan a family night each week to shut off work, stay offline, and play a board game, or maybe even have that extra cup of eggnog and watch A Christmas Story for the 100th time – just don’t shoot your eye out with your Red Rider BB gun like Ralphie did!

A Psalm for Giving Thanks | Goggles & Shoe Covers | 2960 Series Switches | Micromanagers Part 2 | News to Start Your Day

Happy Tuesday!

(November 24th is National Sardines Day…seriously, that is it. Nothing else. Nov 24th doesn’t get much love, well, unless you like sardines.)

Happy Tuesday before Thanksgiving, you guys! I am looking forward to a few days off to spend with family and relaxing. I try to focus in November, and particularly the week of Thanksgiving, on things I am thankful for. At the top of the list for me is my relationship with Jesus. He freely gives me what I need and is my source of strength. One of the ways I walk with Him is by reading the Bible.

Are you familiar with the book of Psalms? It is a collection of poems, songs, praises, thanksgivings and more, with the majority of the collection of 150 being written by King David. Other psalmists include Moses and Solomon.

Here’s an overview of the book if you’re interested: The Book of Psalms

I read this one, Psalm 100, yesterday with the kids. I am grateful for the Lord’s love and faithfulness!

Psalm 100: A Psalm for giving thanks

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

Serve the Lord with gladness!

Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God!

It is he who made us, and we are his;

we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

and his courts with praise!

Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good;

his steadfast love endures forever,

and his faithfulness to all generations.

There have been many songs written about this psalm over the years, some just setting the words to music. Here’s a contemporary song based on it by Chris Tomlin if you’d like to listen: Psalm 100 – Chris Tomlin

What are you thankful for today?

Handle Others with Your Heart | Spiffy Face Masks | QSFP Transceivers | Micromanagers Part 1 | News to Start Your Day

Happy Monday! (First day of a holiday week!)

(November 23rd is National Cashew Day, National Eat A Cranberry Day, and National Espresso Day…Take your pick and enjoy!)

To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart. – Eleanor Roosevelt

I came across this quote this past weekend, and I thought it was a good sentiment for leading into a holiday filled with togetherness and extra family time. The love and care we have for family or close friends means we are sometimes left vulnerable to frustration and hurt because our hearts are open and exposed. Just going away from home and getting out of a routine can be difficult for me. I’m a homebody. I also recharge in quiet spaces. I’ve learned that I do better with family holidays away from home with a little mental preparation.

Maybe some of you can relate to mentally preparing to be surrounded by people, and I’m sure others of you are more like my husband. He is energized by travel, being around lots of people and doing something different. No matter where you fall on the introvert/extrovert, homebody/adventure seeking scale, it is important to use your heart when dealing with others.

Compassion, grace, understanding, love, thankfulness.

I pray each of you is able to give and receive these things this Thanksgiving whether you are able to spend the day with extended family, friends, or only with your own immediate family.

Christin

Today’s Thanksgiving Recipe is from one of my favorite influencer blogs. I follow this couple’s work, mostly for their home design content, but I also have started trying out some of his recipes. I am looking forward to trying this stuffed turkey breast. The recipe for it is below. Be sure to check out the entire meal as well: lowkey Thanksgiving for four.
