CEO Daily Update – 8.05.2020

August 5, 2020 by Craig Haynie

New Layout | CPU Wall Mounts | Free Money! | Emotional Bank Accounts

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome to the CablesAndKits CEO daily update.

I am changing things up a little today. I am going to start with the products I want you to see, buy, and love. We are playing with the email format to see how different things affect clicks and sales (because let’s face it, I don’t write this every day purely for my health! … but I still love you all haha). Think about it like “today’s update is brought to you by …. ”

Today’s Product Spotlight:

Today we are highlighting our CPU wall mount shelf. With this thing you can mount your PC under/to your desk or on a wall, or you can mount a variety of other things like UPS’s, cable modems, or really anything you can think of that would fit in it. You are your own person – you can mount what you want to mount when you want to mount it. 😉

Thanks Rerun (AKA Rebecca) for the write up!

From Joe, our friendly Safety Supplies Product Marketer:

Joe is still out of town (or so we are told), so I will carefully select and hand pick the finest of safety product to present to you for your consideration ….

Thermometers!! We have three options for you – basic, standard, and premium. To be honest, you can’t go wrong with any of them but if I am honest, I like the basic and premium ones the best. Check them all out here.

Alcohol Wipes!! We have plenty of our single-serve low-calorie rust-proof, easy to handle, luxury alcohol towelettes back in stock – The NOW towelettes good for 1000 household uses (you’ll want to hear what’s at the other end of this link). Buy in packs of 50, 100, or a case of 2500!

You can also check out our entire selection of disinfectant wipes including Lysol wipes, here.

Nothing like free money! (Especially when it’s already yours):

Did you know that you may have money out there owed to you that you don’t even know about?

Businesses send money to state-run unclaimed property offices when they can’t locate the owner. The unclaimed funds held by the state are often from bank accounts, insurance policies, or your state government.

There are sites for each state that can be searched to see if you have any unclaimed money. Also, there is a site that searches MANY states at once. I suggest looking at this map to make sure your state will be searched. If not, you can click your state to go directly to the appropriate site to do the search. The second link is more info and links for other types of unclaimed money.

I didn’t know this existed until a hand full of years ago. Even so, I forget to search it. I searched just now and filed three claims and have DOZENS of dollars on the way to me!

A note from Gary (Chief Administrative Steward) about Emotional Bank Accounts:

Recently I was blessed by a gratitude-infused post from Craig in our internal Core Values chat channel. As I processed the warm feelings which flooded my spirit, I was reminded of Stephen Covey’s concept of emotional bank accounts. Covey posited that every single relationship in our life has a unique emotional bank account. Whenever we help someone else, treat them kindly, express gratitude, verbalize their value to us, behave in a trustworthy manner, honor our commitments, respect their time, listen to them,… (the list is varied and endless) we are making a deposit to the emotional bank account of our relationship. On the flipside, when we are disrespectful, short tempered, unreliable,… (this list, too, is varied and endless), we are making a withdrawal from the emotional bank account of our relationship. And, just like in my personal economy, when an emotional bank account for a particular relationship gets overdrawn (negative balance), bad things happen.

A few other points to keep in mind…emotional bank accounts have some unique features. We can make both small and large (or even massive) one-time withdrawals. However, we can only make small deposits. And, human nature being what it is, two additional realities affect the balances in all my emotional bank accounts with others. First, I can make both intentional and unintentional withdrawals. However, emotional deposits almost always require intentionality. Second, the daily friction which naturally occurs when living in close proximity to another person, means that we are often making withdrawals.

Therefore, we need to strive toward making frequent and intentional deposits to the emotional bank accounts of our most important relationships. Now, back to Craig’s expression of appreciation to me. That was clearly a deposit to my emotional bank account and in financial terms “that’ll spend.” Haha!

I hope you are enjoying these updates. If you are, I appreciate it when you let me know! If not, or if you have ideas for how to improve, by all means, please let me know! Sometimes I “can’t see the forest for the trees”.

As always, please let me know how I can be of service to you. If you need assistance with something, advice, or even if you just need someone to pray for you, I am here and listening.

Blessings,

Craig Haynie – CEO

COVID-19 / Business News for Today:

  • Over 11,947,000 people worldwide have recovered and over 2,482,000 people in the US have recovered! The death toll in the US stands at 160,000.
  • High school principal’s coronavirus-themed ‘Can’t Touch This’ parody video rocks internet – Dr. Quentin Lee, a former band director, wrote the song to set expectations for a clean school environment.
  • White House officials and Democratic leaders say they have agreed to try to finalize the details of a new coronavirus relief package by the end of this week. The legislation, which will address lapsed unemployment benefits and eviction restrictions, could go before Congress for a vote next week.
  • The Britain-based Virgin Atlantic airline filed for Chapter 15 protection in a New York federal bankruptcy court on Tuesday, in what the company said was a necessary step to implement a sweeping restructuring plan both domestically and in the United States.
  • California has some good coronavirus news. The state’s positive case rate declined by 7%, hospitalizations by 10% and intensive-care admissions by 5% over the past two weeks, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday.
  • Designer antibodies could battle COVID-19 before vaccines arrive – While the world is transfixed by the high-stakes race to develop a COVID-19 vaccine, an equally crucial competition is heating up to produce targeted antibodies that could provide an instant immunity boost against the virus. Clinical trials of these monoclonal antibodies, which could both prevent and treat the disease, are already underway and could produce signs of efficacy in the next few months, perhaps ahead of vaccine trials.
  •  Houston is the latest city to announce fines for residents who refuse to wear masks in an effort to control the spread of coronavirus, joining a growing list of local and state governments — some of which are handing out citations up to $1,000.
