CEO Daily Update – 2.1.2021

February 1, 2021 by Jason Gazaway

Today’s Topics: Looking Ahead in 2021 | Yealink VP59 Smart Phones | Right Ethernet for the Right Network | News to Start Your Day

Happy Monday!

February 1st is National Freedom Day AND G.I. Joe Day!! Coincidence, I think not! Knowing is half the battle!

First week of a new month, friends. Are you ready to make it a good one? January found us wrapping up plans for 2021, and we feel like we have a good baseline strategy for CK heading into this month. We’re looking forward to picking up the pace and creating some good momentum now that the planning is done. Our method is to always leave room for change if needed, but having an idea of where we want to go has been critical for us. I think the primary superpower of knowing where you are headed is keeping the team aligned and focused. When everyone is rowing in the same direction, it is less work and more enjoyable for everyone on the team.

One of the big things we have planned for this year is several new product launches. We are excited to be bringing either a brand new or expanded product line your way about once per month. As always please let us know if we can help you with any projects or specific products.

Looking forward to serving you,

Christin

Product Spotlights & Updates:

Happy Monday! On Friday we took a broad look at the Yealink T5 Series of VoIP phones, and today I wanted to dive in a little deeper on the Yealink VP59 Smart Media Phone. This incredible phone was designed for those who want to get the most out of their desk phone! It features a vibrant 8” color touch screen that provides a smartphone-like user experience. It comes with a built-in 2 Mega-pixel 1080p Full-HD adjustable camera to make video conferences easy and clear! In addition to the HD video, this phone boasts HD audio with Yealink’s Noise Proof and Acoustic Shield technologies. This incredible technology eliminates background and ambient noise so that you hear what you need to and are not distracted by what you don’t need to hear! The VP59 also features built-in 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi connectivity plus built-in Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity to make connection and collaboration easier than ever!

The right Ethernet for the right network – CK Learning Center

An efficient Ethernet cable management plan, especially in high-density and challenging network environments, increases the versatility of network maintenance and operation. It also contributes to the system’s uptime and lowers operation cost, which makes your life a whole lot easier! The demand for high-density networks can be attributed to the following:

  • The need for energy efficiency through minimized cable impact on the flow of air
  • Merging of servers, storage, and virtualization

The results are more cables per rack and highly used cable racks. This could result in operators being confused by the many cables, which causes increased human errors.

How to choose the right cables for a high-density network center

With increasing technology and virtualization, Ethernet networks are advancing and becoming more complicated as organizations strive for higher levels of reliability and performance. Choosing the right cabling solution will help you attain reliable performance. The following guidelines will help you choose the right cabling solution:

The environment you will be using your cables in

The environment you will be using your cables in will ultimately affect how long they last. If they will be used in a control room, you might not need really flexible cables as the vibration is minimal. However, if they will be exposed to chemicals, oils, and vibrations such as those in factories, you will need highly flexible cables.

The right jacketing solution

The jacketing you choose will also be determined by the environment your cables will be exposed to. The options available to you are:

  • PVC – which is the most common jacketing solution as it can be used in a wide range of environments.
  • Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) – which offer excellent flexibility as its made of plastic and rubber
  • Flame retardant non-corrosive (FNRC) – which would be ideal if fires are a concern in your environment
  • Polyurethane (PUR) – which is ideal in situations where the cables are exposed to oils, chemicals, and other abrasive solvents.
  • Your data rate demands

This refers to the complexity of your data needs. Your needs are different when you are starting out compared to when you are upgrading.

What are the cabling solutions for high-density networks?

Slim Cat6 Ethernet Patch Cables – Snagless Boot

Using the Cat6 slim patch cables enables you to save space in data centers due to their slim and smaller design. The design which has a smaller overall diameter makes cable management easy through the installation of condensed patch cord trays. This provides better airflow which is vital for the maintenance of consistent operational temperatures. This reduces the likelihood of downtimes or system failure.

The cable features a Snagless boot that allows easy finger access. This enables you to quickly connect or disconnect the cable even in dense cable environments. The patch cables are compliant with all EIA/TIA-568-C specifications.

CAT6 Ethernet Patch Cables – Easyboot (Ferrari-style)

One of the aspects that make this type of high-density cable stand out is the Ferrari-style (Easyboot) feature. The Snagless feature of the Ferrari-style ethernet cable makes them easy to connect or disconnect along with a low profile boot. The Snagless boot also makes it easy to pull the cables even in tight situations without damaging them. The cable is compliant with ANSI EIA/TIA 568-B.2-10.

Efficient network cable management is vital in today’s data centers. Along with choosing the right cables, choose the appropriate cable management tools. Plan ahead on the connections needed for your preferred cabling solution as well as where the cables will be routed.

Today’s News to Start Your Day:

  • As of this morning, in the US, there are 9,911,107 active COVID cases, 16,403,843 have recovered and there have been 452,279 deaths.
  • President Joe Biden is set to meet Monday with a group of 10 Republican senators who have proposed spending about one-third of the $1.9 trillion that the White House is seeking in coronavirus aid. However, the Democrat-controlled House and Senate are on track to vote as soon as this week on a budget resolution, which would lay the groundwork for passing Biden’s stimulus package under rules requiring only a simple majority vote in the closely divided Senate.
  • Planters’ monocled Mr. Peanut is back, but he won’t be headed to Sunday’s Super Bowl (at least not in a traditional commercial-like last year). Planters “killed off” its mascot last year, but brought it back in the form of a Baby Nut during its Super Bowl ad last year.
  • The European Union was a step closer to resolving its coronavirus vaccine crisis after two pharmaceutical companies agreed to provide the 27-member bloc with millions of additional doses, potentially easing a widespread shortage that had threatened to undermine a mass immunization campaign.
  • Millions across the Northeast are waking up Monday to the year’s first major winter storm with up to 2 feet of snow projected and blizzard-like conditions expected across the region. The National Weather Service warned that widespread heavy snow of one to two feet is forecast from Pennsylvania into New England including Philadelphia, New York City and Boston through Tuesday, with snowfall rates reaching up to two inches an hour.
