The CK Weekly – Watching Tourists Experience America in Real Time
Good morning and happy Tuesday!
One of my favorite parts of the World Cup being hosted in North America has absolutely nothing to do with soccer. It’s watching people discover America in real time (specifically the South) and it’s absolutely hilarious to me.
My social feeds have become a stream of visitors from around the world documenting all the things they find confusing, fascinating, and occasionally alarming about life here. My favorite post so far was a photo someone took inside a Walmart of what appeared to be Mountain Dew knockoff Crocs. The fact that someone traveled all the way to the United States, saw those shoes, and immediately thought, “The people back home need to see this,” made me chuckle way more than it should.
Another visitor walked into Buc-ee’s expecting a gas station and emerged looking completely overwhelmed. I don’t think anyone can adequately prepare a first time visitor for the experience of buying gasoline, beef jerky, a brisket sandwich, a beach towel, a rocking chair, and a Christmas ornament all in the same place.
Another one that I laughed so hard at was a photo of a visitor eating a Waffle House toaster sandwich with a fork and knife. A fork and knife! There was something so pure about it and all I could think to myself was a Waffle House sandwich is meant to be eaten with one hand!
What makes all of this so entertaining is that it reminds me how strange everyday American life can look from the outside. We don’t think twice about warehouse sized stores, free refills, drive thrus for everything, or gas stations that are the size of shopping malls. The World Cup is bringing people here to watch soccer, but it’s also creating millions of little cultural exchanges that have been so hysterical for me to see.
If there are more moments like Mountain Dew Crocs and properly plated Waffle House sandwiches out there that you loved, I want to see them!
Have a great week!
Mandy

Learning Center Article – Understanding Server CPU Specs
When you’re shopping for servers (or looking to upgrade your hardware), you’re going to have to compare a lot of different specifications, and one of the most important components to analyze is the central processing unit (CPU). This is the core of the server that does all of the heavy lifting and “thinking” for the device. A great CPU runs a great server, and an inferior CPU leaves you frustrated.
