CK Daily – 08.20.2024

Happy Tuesday & Happy National Radio Day! Today celebrates the great invention of the radio. What’s your favorite channel to tune in to in your area?

The CK Daily – Adventure is Out There!

Good Morning & Happy Tuesday! I’m fresh off a super fun weekend that was full of adventure!

We headed down to Whitesburg, GA for the weekend to stay at a place called Historic Banning Mills. It’s somewhat of an “adventure resort” that combines history with a wide range of outdoor activities. They have all sorts of lodging options, but we stayed in their tree house rentals which were really quaint and unique.

They offer dining options at the main lodge, so on Saturday we woke up and had a delicious breakfast before embarking on our day full of adventure which started with zip lining! Banning Mills boasts the world’s largest zip line canopy tour which is kind of crazy considering I’m a Georgia native and had never even heard of this place before!

I’ve got quite a fear of heights and was feeling pretty nervous as we got closer and closer to go-time, but I knew it was safe and I was committed to completing the tour. I’ve been having a lot of conversations lately with my niece about facing your fears and doing what scares you, as she recently had to do exactly that when she had to give a presentation to her class. She was so nervous but I told her she’d feel much better once it was over and said “there’s nothing to it but to do it!”… And that’s exactly what I told myself when I was having to step off of super tall platforms to go zipping down to the next one. It definitely tested me, but I’m so glad we did it! The tour took us about 4 hours as we did Level 3 and added on the Ridge Runner which is a half mile long zip line that provided some amazing views! If you have a few minutes, go search their “Flight of the Falcon” zip line. It looks amazing and terrifying all at the same time… pretty glad we didn’t sign up for that one!

Once the tour was over, we ate a quick bite before heading out on an Eco-Spider SWINCAR guided trail tour. I had never heard of these vehicles before, but they were really fun to drive and could handle all sorts of terrain! Of course I had to deal with heights again when we drove over a suspension bridge that was 170 feet tall and took us over Snake Creek, but after zip lining, it didn’t feel too bad! 😉

If you are in Georgia, I’d totally recommend going to check out Banning Mills! It honestly would make a great day trip if you’re within a couple hours driving range!

Rebecca

Learning Center Article – What are the common wireless standards?

If you have ever worked with wireless networking, you have probably seen standards. These are things that start with IEEE and the number “802,” and until you know more of the specifics, they seem like confusing serial numbers.
