The CK Daily – The 12 Seasons of Georgia
Happy Friday, folks! Did you know that Georgia has 12 seasons? Some last a mere days, while others are much longer. Our spring lasted much longer this year, so we enjoyed those cool spring days through most of May. This also meant that we didn’t jump straight from Winter to Summer! In case you’re wondering, here are those 12 “humorous” seasons:
- Winter
- Fool’s Spring
- Second Winter
- Spring of Deception
- Third Winter
- The Pollening
- Actual Spring
- Summer
- AC is sweating buckets while the heat does the cha-cha
- False Fall
- Second Summer
- Actual Fall
With our longer-than-normal spring season this year, we delayed the annual planting of our garden until the end of May. With the abundance of rain and the temps making their way into the 80s here, our garden is starting to pop! It’s funny that while I didn’t grow up planting a garden yearly, I find working in it enjoyable. I’m always reminded that working in a garden is like many things in life. You start with a plan. You begin a new project (plow, then plant ). You remove the unnecessary stuff (removing weeds or grass that springs up in a garden). You optimize for results (adding fertilizer to the garden). Your new project generates results (you harvest in late summer or fall).
I’ve also realized that the harder I work for something, the more I appreciate the results. Gardening has its easy days and its tough days. The hardest is when it’s blazing hot and weeds must be removed. It takes perseverance to keep the garden healthy and ensure it produces a crop.
What life lessons have you learned from simple things like a garden?
Have a great weekend!
Chris
