The CK Daily – Never say never!
Good Morning and Happy Tuesday! This is an exciting week for me as I’ll be heading to Lexington, SC on Thursday for the Palmetto 200 Relay Race. I ran this race back in 2016 and swore I’d never do it again, but here we are! Never say never! The race starts in Lexington and goes on for 205.44 miles until it ends in Mt. Pleasant which is just outside of Charleston, SC. It’s a relay race so the total distance is broken up into 36 “legs” of varying lengths. Runners will “pass the baton” (in this case, a wrist band) to another member of their team at each exchange zone. I’m on a team of 8 runners and will be completing 26 miles of the relay. The race starts at 5 AM on Friday and I actually feel quite fortunate that I get to run the first leg! Going first will help knock the nerves down and get some miles under my belt right away which is nice because every mile down is one less to go!
We will run all day Friday and through the night Saturday. I’ve got a leg that should start around 2 AM and another around 4 AM which I’m not exactly looking forward to, but if it was easy it wouldn’t be nearly as rewarding so I’m just going to try to make the best of it! If we calculated correctly, we should end up completing the race sometime shortly after 2 PM on Saturday! We’ll certainly be exhausted, but the memories made should be well worth it! We will stay in Charleston Saturday night which will be a nice treat! It’s one of my favorite cities with so much beautiful architecture, so much history, and so many amazing restaurants. We plan to explore a bit Saturday evening before crashing and hopefully sleeping for at least 10 hours!
Looking forward to the adventure!
Rebecca

Learning Center Article – Single Mode vs Multimode Fiber Cables
Fiber optics are essential for building the most capable networks, but when making design choices, there are plenty of options that serve fiber optics in general. One of the primary choices available to any network engineer exists between single-mode fiber and multimode fiber.
These are physically different approaches to fiber optics communication, and as such, they offer different strengths and weaknesses. To effectively choose the right design for your network, it helps to have a better understanding of what separates these types of cables.
