The CK Daily – An Unexpected Forest Adventure
Happy Friday, everyone!
Who doesn’t love a little adventure—whether it’s hiking, camping, discovering a hidden gem, or stumbling upon nature’s wonders deep in the forest?
Last weekend, my family planned a beach trip to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. But when we got there, the waves were so big that no one dared to swim, especially with kids around. So, we decided to switch things up and visit an unfamiliar waterfall tucked away in the forest nearby.
The walk from the beach to the falls was lovely—we chatted, laughed, and enjoyed the scenery. I expected the place to be empty, thinking it wasn’t popular with tourists. But to our surprise, an elderly couple greeted us at a small nipa hut, asking for an environmental fee. We didn’t mind paying, assuming they were the ones keeping the place clean. But as we reached the falls, it was a mixed experience. The waterfall itself was enchantedly beautiful, though much smaller than I imagined—a true hidden gem. But sadly, there was litter scattered around, which took away some of its charm. Half of us, including me, chose to simply enjoy the view rather than swim.
It was a reminder that nature deserves our respect, whether someone’s around to clean up or not. Leave no trace, right? Even though it wasn’t the perfect visit, it’s still a memory to keep. And the Philippines has so many breathtaking places worth exploring!
How about you? Have you ever visited the Philippines? If so, what tourist spots did you enjoy most? I’d love to hear about your experiences!
