The Cisco 10GBASE X2 module offers customers a wide variety of 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity options for data center, enterprise wiring closet, and service provider transport applications. The Cisco 10GBASE-SR Module supports a link length of 300 meters on 50 or 62.5 micron multi-mode fiber.

- Hot-swappable input/output device plugs into an Ethernet X2 port of a Cisco switch or router to link the port with the network.
- Supports 10GBASE Ethernet and has optical interoperability with respective 10GBASE Xenpak, 10GBASE SFP+, and 10Gbase XFP modules on the same link.
- Using OM4 fiber up to 400 meter link lengths are possible, 300 meters on OM3, and 26 meters on standard FDDI grade MMF.
