The Cisco 1000BASE-LX/LH SFP module (GLC-LH-SM) is a hot-swappable SFP transceiver that provides connectivity for Gigabit Ethernet port/ slot connecting the port with the fiber optic network. Being hot swappable makes the upgrades and replacements seamless by minimizing network disruptions.
The transceiver supports link length of up to 10 kilometres over SMF and 550 meters over MMF. It operates at a wavelength of 1310nm for both. When used over legacy MMF type, the transmitter should be coupled through a mode conditioning patch cable. It fully complies with the IEEE 802.3z 1000BaseLX standard.
The transceiver can be used and interchanged on a wide variety of Cisco products including router, switches and other devices that provide support for SFP transceivers. It can be intermixed in combinations of IEEE 802.3z- compliant 1000BaseSX, 1000BaseLX/LH, or 1000BaseZX interfaces on a port-by-port basis. The transceiver can be easily installed in a network by plugging it into a compatible SFP port on the device.
This module is compliant with industry standards like SFF-8472 and RoHS, making it a environmentally friendly choice for network connectivity. It also comes with a temperature range of 0 to 70°C, making it suitable for use in a variety of environments.
