Crypto Mining Bundle Options

Crypto mining is a lucrative business, when you do it right, and as an industry, it’s not going away anytime soon. If you have big plans for mining crypto, you need more than just powerful processing devices to crunch the numbers. You also need a network that can support the whole thing.

To get your foot in the door and potentially save a lot of money, you might want to consider some crypto mining bundle options.

How Mining Bundles Can Get You Started

If you want to build a reliable, profitable mining operation, you need a lot of hardware to make it run. You also need a network that can keep up with the high-paced environment that is crypto mining.

Mining bundles can help you build a functional network on your current budget. They can also help you think about future upgrades as your operation grows and expands.

Below, you’ll see three different bundles that we crafted to help you get everything you need to get up and running. Each of the bundles is targeted at a different price range, and each has all of the networking essentials.

Keep in mind that these bundles are recommendations. You can mix and match hardware from different bundles and scale them according to your current hardware capacity. If you need more switches and ports, go for it. If you don’t need to use every port in a switch yet, that’s fine too. These bundles are intended to jumpstart your network planning.

The Money Saver

The first bundle on the list is the money saver. While you can find more expensive and more powerful versions of everything in this bundle, this is still a powerful starting point. This hardware can keep up with large, demanding networks, and for a beginning crypto operation, this is probably an ideal place to get going.

Switch and Router

This bundle starts with a switch and router that provide surprisingly powerful performance at a fraction of the costs you could be spending.

The recommended switch for this one is the Cisco Catalyst 3750X-24T-S. This is a 24-port switch with Gigabit Ethernet. It has Layer 3 routing and a modular power supply, making it capable and robust. It’s also stackable, allowing you to easily scale it up as your operation grows.

Paired with this switch is the Cisco ISR 4221 Router. This is a workhorse that allows you to easily manage routing, switching, and firewall services — essential controls for any crypto mining setup.

Cables

Supporting this hardware is a bundle of Cat6 Ethernet. At 3 feet in length each, you can get a set of 24 cables for a nice price. This makes it easy to connect all of your devices in the setup while maintaining high speeds on your copper setup.

Fiber Optics

Even though this is a budget-minded bundle, you can still operate with fiber optics. The switch supports OM3 connections, which means you’ll want a transceiver and patch cables. For this bundle, we recommend Multimode Fiber Patch Cables and the Cisco GLC-SX-MM Transceiver.

The All-Around Approach

Next up is a mid-tier bundle. The hardware is a little more expensive in this group, and it offers power and security to match the price hikes. If you want to get past the basics, this is the next level. Despite the jump in price tags, you’re still looking at very cost-effective hardware.

Switch and Router

We can kick off this bundle with the Cisco Catalyst 2960X-24TS-L Switch. It’s another 24-port switch with Gigabit Ethernet support. This one is built around Layer 2 networking, and it is also stackable. The big upgrade for this bundle is that the 2960X supports SFP+ uplinks, giving you more total bandwidth to work with.

Routing for this setup is the Cisco ISR 4331 Router. While this router still enables easy network management, it has more advanced security and control features, allowing you to be more precise with your mid-tier crypto-mining operation.

Cables

To keep everything connected and running well, you can still largely rely on Cat6 patch cables. Again, we recommend a 24-pack to maximize your switch, but naturally, you can pick the number of cables that makes sense for your operation.

Fiber Optics

As for the fiber optics, this bundle utilizes SFP+. To take advantage of that, we recommend Cisco SFP-10G-SR Transceivers.

Maximizing Your Crypto Network

Lastly, we can look at the high-end bundle. The hardware in this group is currently used in data centers and world-class enterprise networks. This is the cream of the crop, and it’s intended for crypto operations that are pushing the envelope.

Switch and Router

When you want to dial things up to 11, the Cisco Catalyst 9300-24T-E Switch is the way to go. While this is also a 24-port Gigabit switch, its Layer 3 routing, modular uplink, and power supply redundancy are top of the class. This switch supports even more fiber optic support, and the stack tops out at 480 Gbps total bandwidth. This is as much power as you can get from a Gigabit switch.

To manage this kind of network, your best option is the Cisco ISR 4451 Router. This device offers high-end routing, advanced features, the best security options in the business, and enough high-speed connectivity to keep up with the most aggressive mining outfits.

Cables

To connect everything on this impressive network, you’ll want better cables. We recommend 3-foot Cat8 Ethernet cables for this one. It will allow your copper connections to keep up with the raw bandwidth available, and it offers some future proofing while you’re at it.

Fiber Optics

For your fiber optics, you’ll want another upgrade. For your fiber optics, you'll want another upgrade. Make use of OM4 Multimode Fiber Patch Cables (they run up to 5 meters in length each), and connect them with Cisco SFP-10G-SR SFP+ transceivers.
