The Cisco 3850 Two-Port 10G Ethernet Network Module (C3850-NM-2-10G) is an expansion module designed for the Cisco Catalyst 3850 series switches to add additional 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to the switch.
The module is designed to fit into the switch's expansion slot, which is located on the back of the switch. It has four slots, two slots on the left side support only 1 G SFP modules and two slots on the right-side support either 1 G SFP or 10 G SFP modules. Although there are 4 ports on the module, only 2 of them can be active at one time.
The module is hot- swappable and can be easily installed or removed without having to power off the switch. It also supports various features, such as Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), which allows the ports to be combined into a single logical interface for improved bandwidth and redundancy. The module also supports Jumbo Frames, which can increase the throughput of large data transfers.
