The Cisco 3850 Series Power Supply Slot Cover/Blank is a small plastic cover that fits into a power supply slot on a Cisco Catalyst 3850 series switch. This cover is used when a power supply is not installed in a particular slot on the switch.
The cover panels serve three important functions: they prevent exposure to hazardous voltages and currents inside the chassis; they contain electromagnetic interference (EMI) that might disrupt other equipment; and they direct the flow of cooling air through the chassis.
The cover further prevents dust and debris from entering the switch and potentially causing damage or interfering with its operation. It also provides a neat, finished appearance to the switch and helps to prevent accidental contact with the power supply slot.
