By using this wiring configuration you are aligning, or crossing, the transmit (+ or tip) and receive (- or ring) in a fashion that eliminates the need for a hub or switch. By using The CM jackets used in these cables comply with UL-1865 testing defining that the jackets will not spread flame to the cable tray using the Vertical Cable Tray Flame Test. These jackets are the most common jacket used for copper cabling and exposed patch cords both in the server room and at the workstation.
These shielded CAT6 cables offer 2 layers of protection against EMI (electromagnetic interference) and general electrical noise. The outer braided layer is connected to the RJ plugs on either end of the cable and provides the first and most important line of defense. This braiding essentially grounds the cable sending the "noise" away from the conductors, or leads. Speaking of the conductors, these shielded CAT6 copper patch cords wrap each conductor pair in a AL-Mylar film further reducing the chances the signal will be compromised by outside interference.
