The CK Weekly – Between Summer Adventures and Fall Daydreams<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Happy Tuesday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been a little while since I\u2019ve written one of these! Since we\u2019ve switched to a weekly rotation, I only get a turn every few weeks now, so I have a little more catching up to do than usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights of our summer was a big family road trip up to Kentucky to visit the Ark Encounter. I had heard a lot about it over the years, but seeing the size of the Ark in person is pretty incredible. There\u2019s really no way to appreciate just how massive the structure is until you\u2019re standing next to it. We spent quite a bit of time walking through the exhibits inside, and the kids especially enjoyed the little zoo they have there. It was definitely worth the trip!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we were up that way, we also took a short trip over to Cincinnati and visited the Cincinnati Zoo. We had a great time there too, and I particularly enjoyed seeing the manatees. There\u2019s something about watching those giant animals slowly float around that is oddly relaxing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only downside to the trip was the heat. It was HOT! I guess I had it in my head that traveling north would give us a little relief from the Georgia summer heat, but Kentucky and Ohio apparently didn\u2019t get that memo. Now that we\u2019re back home, it\u2019s still hot here too, so I\u2019m definitely ready for fall!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer vacation has also officially come to an end for the kids and they\u2019re back in school. They were both a little nervous during that first week, which I think is pretty normal with new teachers, classrooms, and routines. Thankfully, they\u2019ve settled in now and seem to be getting back into the swing of things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for me, I\u2019m looking forward to the Pok\u00e9mon World Championships coming up at the end of the month in San Diego. Unfortunately, I won\u2019t be able to attend in person, but I\u2019m looking forward to catching the livestream and watching some of the best players in the world compete. Maybe one of these years I\u2019ll actually make it out there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It feels like we\u2019re in that strange part of the year where summer vacation is over, school is back, and mentally I\u2019m ready for fall, but the weather clearly has other plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
