Hello, everyone. Holy Wednesday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is Holy Week once again. Here in the Philippines, we have a rich blend of deep Catholic devotion and local traditions that continue to be practiced and passed down through generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of our yearly traditions is the Pabasa, the chanting of the Passion of Christ, which usually takes place from holy Monday to Holy Wednesday. By Maundy Thursday, many of us begin to step back from heavy work. There is a belief that if you get wounded during these days, it may take longer to heal. We also try to keep things quiet, especially on Thursday and Friday as a sign of respect and reflection. I remembered when we were younger, even playing outside was not allowed so we would not make too much noise from laughing. Many people, including my family, also choose to avoid eating meat during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some also practice Penitensya, which involves more intense acts of devotion. We may have different ways of observing Holy Week, but I believe we all share one common prayer during this season, and that is peace in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wishing everyone a blessed week ahead. Let us continue to pray for peace and wellness for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
