The early bird gets to pack their bags and fly away to a little fun and relaxation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wow! Where has this month gone? I mean it&#8217;s already at the end of January. This year is already flying by!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It seems as we get busier and busier time goes by faster and faster. Maybe it&#8217;s just that we are so focused on getting stuff done and we do not take the time to slow down and enjoy the moment or rest and relax that we &#8220;lose&#8221; that time and it seems to go by fast. I am not sure, it may be a combination of both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I know for me, life has been non-stop already this year. Between all the items that I need to do here at CK daily, trying to wrap up selling a house, trying to pack up everything, trying to build a house, family health issues, my God-sons moving to Germany for two years, and everything else that goes on day to day, I am not sure of the last time I just sat down and relaxed or &#8220;enjoyed the moment&#8221;. I imagine a lot of it revolves around the house stuff, but I remember being &#8220;too&#8221; busy before I started trying to sell or build a house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What are some of the ways or things you do to &#8220;slow down&#8221; or &#8220;enjoy the moment&#8221;? Cause obviously what I am doing is not working. In fact, that\u2019s already the case. Networking hubs handle virtually all digital traffic before requests eventually filter down to individual users. Because of this, data center networking is only going to demand more from its hardware and design. Meeting the needs today and tomorrow will require 100G transceivers. This guide was designed to help you better understand and navigate the world of these transceivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What Are 100G Transceivers?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the name suggests, 100G transceivers are devices that operate fiber optic transmissions at data rates up to 100 Gbps. They come in a range of designs and applications, and as of the start of 2019, 100G transceivers were handling more than half of all optical data center transmissions. Note the lack of qualifiers on that statement. If it runs on fiber optics in a data center, it probably touches a 100G transceiver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">100G transceivers have seen massive upgrades and adaptations over the last three years. Utilizing an array of connection types and design philosophies, they can provide those 100G rates at distances up to 40 km. Depending on the transceiver, you can get up to 24 fiber lanes. Data rates per lane usually start at 10 Gbps and can get up to 28 Gbps. To put it as simply as possible, 100G transceivers are the hubs for some of the fastest digital communications that are currently available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Where Are They Best Used?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Considering the variety of transceiver designs, there are plenty of places to integrate them into a network. The common theme is pretty obvious. 100G transceivers are irreplaceable in dense data networks. As you already read, they\u2019re already being utilized in the bulk of data centers, and the amount of traffic they handle in each center continues to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a less generic sense, 100G transceivers are ideal for networks that simultaneously handle large numbers of channels. The scalability of the transceivers enables them to connect more nodes per transceiver than any alternative. They shine at their absolute brightest in the most cable-dense environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How Do Different 100G Transceivers Compare?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any network that requires this equipment won\u2019t tolerate a substitute. When looking at 100G networking, the real question is which transceiver should be used. That\u2019s easier to answer when you breakdown and compare the four most common model types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CXP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CXP transceivers are great for short-range 100G applications. They come in 12 or 10-line designs, and they support up to 12 Gbps per line. They are hot swappable and are designed for a small form factor which makes them a popular choice in high-density networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QSFP28<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">High-density networks are a common theme among 100G transceivers. QSFP28 also has a small form factor for this purpose, but it operates on lower power consumption than other popular 100G designs. This is achieved by limiting the communication to 4 lines per cable and ratcheting the data rate per line up to 25 Gbps. In some cases, that speed can be boosted up to 28 Gbps, making QSFP28 the fastest data-per-line 100G design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CFP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CFP is one of the older 100G formats, but it has been regularly updated to keep up with newer technology. You can often find three varieties of CFP \u2014 CFP, CFP2 and CFP4 \u2014 in modern data centers. Across these variants, CFP data rates range from 40 Gbps to 100 Gbps per transceiver. They support single and multi-mode fiber, and they utilize 10 X 10G and 4 X 25G lines. The form factors are each a different size, so CFP offers the most choice in cost vs scalability. CFP is particularly good for networks with dramatically different needs inside of the same data center as they are cross-compatible, and each interface is optimized for different demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CPAK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last big player in 100G transceivers is CPAK. This is the transceiver designed by Cisco, and it is intended to be a bridge between the different formats and protocols in the world of fiber optics. It\u2019s as universal as you can get, providing rates from 40G to 100G, and CPAK transceivers connect via SC, LC and MPO. CPAK even supports MPO 14-wire fiber in a 12-core array. This makes CPAK a heavy contender for future-proofing data center networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those are the basics of 100G transceivers. They represent the present and foreseeable future of data centers, and their usage is only going to grow. With each format catering to a different specialty, optimizing cost and performance in 100G networking doesn\u2019t have to be an insurmountable task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cablesandkits.com\/learning-center\/all-about-100g-transceivers\">article<\/a> is from the CK Learning Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Today&#8217;s News to Start Your Day:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>As of this morning, in the US, there are 9,811,522 active COVID cases, 15,620,065 have recovered and there have been 431,397 deaths.<\/li><li>Could wearing two face masks at once during the pandemic provide more protection than just wearing one? According to White House advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, \u201cit likely does.&#8221; Researchers say that wearing a surgical mask underneath a cloth mask provides maximal protection, because the surgical mask acts as a filter and the cloth adds an additional layer and helps with fit, according to commentary on mask-wearing published on Jan. 15. In places where it\u2019s difficult to maintain social distance, such as on an airplane or at the store, two masks would provide additional protection. The next best option would be a three-layer mask that contains an inner filter.<\/li><li>Shares of GameStop are jumping again after a rollercoaster day that saw the stock more than double and turn negative within hours. GameStop has rallied more than 300% in January alone as an army of retail investors marshaled against short sellers in online chat rooms. The explosive rally in GameStop was largely driven by the buying frenzy among individual investors active in online forums, especially the infamous \u201cwallstreetbets\u201d Reddit chat room with more than two million subscribers. One trending post on Tuesday features a screenshot of the user\u2019s portfolio showing an over 1,000% return on GameStop\u2019s stock.<\/li><li>Pizza Hut is launching Detroit-style pizza at its locations nationwide for a limited time. David Graves, the chief brand officer of Pizza Hut U.S., said the chain chose to make Detroit-style pizza because it\u2019s the fastest-growing pizza trend in the country.<\/li><li>Watch the official Super Bowl spots from brands including Vroom, Chipotle and Mercari.<br>The Super Bowl will be on Feb. 7. This list of videos will be updated as more ads are released.<\/li><li>Apple said on Monday that its hardware chief, Dan Riccio, will transition to a new role \u201cfocusing on a new project.\u201d Riccio was previously the company\u2019s senior vice president for hardware engineering, signing off on the physical aspects and electrical engineering of Apple products, including iPhones.
