Any Costco fans out there?<\/p>\n

I certainly am…for some things.\u00a0 I am also the first to admit that it took most of my entire lifetime to arrive at that point.\u00a0 There was just some unfounded stigma about using an item that wasn\u2019t a name brand.\u00a0 Not to mention, I didn\u2019t want my guests to see anything in my cabinets like that.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I suppose it\u2019s not fair to single out Costco when I\u2019m discussing house-branded products; they are simply the first to come to mind.\u00a0 Most stores do exactly the same thing\u2014they will contract with a manufacturer to produce items for them and add their label.\u00a0 Costco has Kirkland. Target has Up & Up.\u00a0 Take that a step further\u2026.how about some of the brands of perfume, makeup, even clothing you find in the high-end retailers with the names of celebrities attached to them.\u00a0 Anyone believe that Mariah Carey went to her garage one day, donned an apron, and started concocting different mixtures of eye shadow?\u00a0 Did Liz Taylor do that with perfume?<\/p>\n

While I\u2019m having fun with rhetorical questions, let me toss a couple more at you\u2026.does $8 Tylenol, with 250mg of acetaminophen, relieve headaches any faster than a $3 store brand capsule with\u2026wait for it\u2026..250mg of acetaminophen?<\/p>\n

The examples are endless yet, unfortunately, space here is not, so I\u2019ll get to the point.<\/p>\n

I already know you\u2019re following me\u2026I can hear you behind me\u2026..<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to talk about third party compatible<\/a> network parts, isn\u2019t he?\u201d<\/p>\n

So here we are with network parts.\u00a0 None of the majors manufacture for themselves. They contract with a manufacturer to build them on their behalf and add a sticker with their logo on it.\u00a0 THAT manufacturer builds his parts to a set of specifications that are accepted industry-wide\u2026it\u2019s called a Multi-Source Agreement.\u00a0 This agreement defines operating characteristics that the parts must fall into.\u00a0 Well, guess what?\u00a0 The network parts you buy from us ALSO subscribe to the SAME Multi-Source Agreement!\u00a0 What we don\u2019t subscribe to is the higher cost due to the ink that\u2019s on the label.<\/p>\n

Wrapping all of this up into a neat little package:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Certainly there is a time and a place for the original labeled parts with some customers\u2026and that\u2019s great\u2026.it\u2019s another facet of our business.\u00a0 At the same time, however, not every company, every application, every data center will have the same requirements.\u00a0 Many find value in the compatible options that we offer. Many have been able to do more things\/upgrade more areas of their data center and still stay under budget with our cost-effective alternatives.<\/p>\n
