Fiber<\/a> has grown to be a popular choice of cabling with the ability for it to run just about anywhere. This cabling can run for extremely long distances compared to its copper counterpart. Here are a few reasons why IT professionals prefer fiber over Ethernet:<\/p>\n

1. Speed<\/strong>
\nClose to the speed of light, fiber has the ability to transmit data faster than copper Ethernet cable.
\n2. Durability<\/strong>
\nFiber is naturally more durable than copper with their ability to withstand the tougher environment. Electricity does not travel through the core of Fiber, therefore, there is never a fire hazard.
\n3. Direct\/less attenuation<\/strong>
\nHaving a strong signal is extremely important when traveling over a long distance. Fiber cables can travel hundreds of feet to miles.
\n4. Cabling of the future<\/strong>
\nEthernet cabling tends to be vulnerable to interception. Fiber provides an increased security which makes it hard for data interception because light can\u2019t be read in the same way signals sent via Ethernet can be.<\/p>\n
