I think something is catching on around here. After I knocked the cobwebs off the blog people started coming out of the woodwork with blog ideas. I decided that stealing all their ideas and putting my name on them was wrong (and just too time consuming), so I am doing the next best thing; forcing them to write articles for me!
Changes to the CnK Blog
Well, we have one post under our belt and “that ain’t bad”. (Think Jack Nicholson in the movie Mars Attacks. After Congress was destroyed he said “I want the people to know that they still have 2 out of 3 branches of the government working for them, and that ain’t bad”. The “that ain’t bad” was in that “Typical Jack Nicholson” sarcastic voice making it all the more funny.)
ANYWHO, after bringing the blog back to life we began to make lots of changes to the look and layout as well. Here are some of the changes made so far: [Read more…] about Changes to the CnK Blog

15 Months since the last post. FIFTEEN MONTHS! That is ludacris! (No, wait. Ludicrous, not Ludacris).
Sigh….. what happened?? Are we all just a bunch of fat faces too busy eating Krispy Kreme donuts to lick off our fingers and post a blooming message? It would seem so wouldn’t it. No….. that’s not it. (But please call first if stopping by so we can hide all the donut boxes). [Read more…] about CablesAndKits.com staff abducted by Aliens?

The CK Daily – Conquering Goals 💪
Good Morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is having a great week so far!
Like just about everyone else in America, I watched the Superbowl on Sunday and really enjoyed the game. I’m not a huge NFL fan (college football is where it’s at!) and I don’t pull for either team, so I was mostly just rooting for an entertaining game which it turned out to be! Aside from the game, the real star of the show during the Superbowl is always the food! I definitely enjoyed eating my weight in pizza, chips, dips, jalapeno poppers… all the rich and delicious foods!
I was feeling extra hungry on Sunday because I’ve been slowly increasing my activity level over the past few weeks after deciding to sign up for a half marathon! One of my goals for this year is to take better care of myself and to get back to doing some of the things that bring me joy. As crazy as it may sound, running and having something on the calendar to train for brings me joy and allows me to tap into the part of myself that thrives on determination and overcoming a challenge!
It’s been fun to be on a training plan and start pushing myself again, but I’ve also had to face the reality that I’m not in half-marathon shape right now and don’t have as much time to train as I would have preferred. I’m trying to find the balance between training and pushing myself, but also avoiding injury! My goal is to just get to where I can complete the race and have fun while doing so!
What are some goals you’re working towards this year!?

The CK Daily – Relaxing & Recharging
Good Morning & Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and is feeling a little refreshed after some time off and lots of good food!
I tried to take some time to slow down over the break and really live in the moment. Life is so busy these days that I had almost forgotten how to just be still and enjoy each moment for what it is. I’m always thinking about the next thing that needs to be done, trying to stay on schedule, and trying to be productive in some way at all times. While it’s great to have a high level of productivity, I’m learning that our bodies and minds need breaks. I’ve found myself over-tired and overwhelmed a lot lately so I made an intentional decision to allow myself to relax over the break.
I spent more time on the couch over the weekend than I had all year combined! I let myself lounge in pajamas, didn’t worry about what time it was, and even took a nap! It was much-needed rest, but what I found was that I actually was able to be even MORE productive with the rest. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking yummy Thanksgiving dishes, cleaning out the attic, and even organizing my closet… and none of it felt stressful!
Thankful for the break and time to recharge!

Shop Safe – Know who to trust
If you are reading this blog article chances are you shop online. Personally, I couldn’t imagine a world without eBay, God bless Pierre Omidyar and the guy that had an affinity for broken laser pointers.
Those of us whose profession is in IT usually have a natural talent for sensing when it’s safe to buy from a website or not. It comes from seeing the ins and outs of what makes a website work, work better, and work securely. However for most it’s a shot in the dark. To get a feel for the security of the company you plan to buy from you should watch for these things: [Read more…] about Shop Safe – Know who to trust
