Driven by a powerful CPU processor along with high-performance DSPs and auxiliary processors on various interfaces, the Cisco 2600 Series supports advanced QoS, security, and network integration features required in today's evolving branch offices. Compared to the Cisco 2600XM models, the Cisco 2691 is designed to offer a higher degree of versatility, providing greater throughput for higher density WAN applications, support for high-speed interfaces and increased performance to handle new services.

The Cisco 2691 Multiservice Platform provides a 1-network module slot platform, with 2 fixed 10/100 BaseT Ethernet ports, 3 integrated WIC slots, and 2 Advanced Integration Module (AIM) slots, with performance up to 70 Kpps
