The internet is full of handy tricks, and you may have heard of this one already. But, I just accidentally stumbled upon it when I fat fingered the wrong key while trying to use another trick I learned a million years ago and thought I might share.

In light of the news of Bin Laden’s recent demise, Martin (Account Manager) decided he should dress in such a way as to express his feelings about the matter.

I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

Remember in elementary/middle school when you liked a girl? Boys had their own way of showing their affection for the opposite gender. Punching, pushing and kicking them were all socially acceptable ways to show the girl you liked that you in fact liked her.

Note to self:

Do not take April Fool’s day off. Coworkers when armed with information like “man, I don’t see myself ever getting married”, or “man, I’m sure glad I don’t have to ask permission to go somewhere”, or the ever popular ”weddings are like funerals, only with better food” they tend to use it against you. One side of the coin it sucks having your wall spammed, but on the other side at least I know what they were up to. We work in an environment where nothing good comes from silence. If they did nothing, I would have likely taken Monday off too so that whatever they planted in or around my desk would have died or moved to another cube.

This past year was an exciting year for us here at CablesAndKits. It was particularly exciting for me as the CFO, because we were and are so focused on metrics. As part of the executive leadership team here, I have been challenging our teams and leaders to find ways to measure their team performance as well as the company’s performance as it relates to their particular roles. There have been many interesting discussions because of this focus, and our team members are learning things about themselves and about business that they never knew before.

The following blog has been written by three separate CnK team members and edited and melded together by me, Christin. We wanted to take a little time to tell you a little about our end of the year Community Outreach projects. All of these projects were successful, not just for the need that was filled, but for the reminder to us about what is really important and how blessed we are to have our work, our homes, and our families.

Let’s just face it, we have it pretty good. Your car won’t start? At least you have one. You’re a little late on your mortgage payment? At least you have one.  Having some difficulties at work, well, let just face it, you’re lucky you have a job at all. The same can be said about so many aspects of our lives. Even those most fundamental, rudimentary things we tend to overlook and take for granted. Even those things that mean the most, like family.

“Culture”- it has become a popular buzzword in the workplace in recent years.  You hear about this concept in several variations such as:  Organizational Culture, Corporate Culture or Company Culture.  Since the images of “Corporate” or “Organizational” Culture bring up  negative connotations for me personally, I prefer to refer to it as “Company Culture”.

CablesAndKits.com is located near Atlanta, GA – we are not used to it being 25° F outside every morning!  Needless to say, I have elevated my coffee intake to “addiction level” in order to fight the cold – or at least make it more enjoyable.

It seems like we were just having our Thanksgiving Chili-cook-off yesterday, but all of the sudden Winter has come upon us in full force. By this time everyone has had one-too-many leftover turkey sandwiches and we’re all ready to get into the Christmas spirit.

It’s just in my nature to want to win. So much so, I sometimes pay a higher price than I should to assure that I maintain my place at the top. But hey, that’s just what you have to do.  I mean, that’s what you’re supposed to do, right? It is in fact the reason we are “successful”, the reason athletes get paid the “big bucks”, and the very reason I am typing this email for the company I work for…….because I had the winning resume. Or is it?

At CablesAndKits.Com, the new generation of employee is constantly being groomed and smelted (that is an odd combo) into a durable and versatile being. Back in the day when I first started, I was sent through a pilot training program (not to be read as being trained to fly a plane, although you never know around here) that included a 360 degree view of everyone’s job.
